Yeah! I love all those nice step-by-step photos - you could really
make the food just by looking at the pictures!

(The sandwich title makes me think that it's stuffed with old
cigarette butts though! lol)

Thanks for the great recipe and all the great pics! The sandwich looks
delicious. Matteo looks real delicious as well. If I had to choose
between the two, I would be hard-pressed trying to figure out which
one would provide me with the most...meat.

Sensors have detected a theme, Captain. First there was a recipe for
"Tunnel Of Fudge Cake" and now there is evidence of "Marlboro Man
sandwiches". Consider sending out some Red Uniforms to scout the
neighborhood.

"Virginia Hamm" was a famous drag queen IIRC...

Not something I follow, so if that was the connection here I wouldn't have
got it.

well, that was blinky, not blake.

i remember the *fireplace*, on p st near p st beach and dupont circle, but
when i was going (early seventies) it was live music, not male strippers
like it is now, i think. if there was a drag queen scene there, i missed
it.

<http://www.washingtonpost.com/gog/bars-clubs/fireplace,792640.html>

hmm, it just says 'dance club' now. i used to live a few blocks east at
17th and p, a stones throw from j.r.'s and annie's.

but maybe you know this: are any drag performers doing sarah palin now?

your pal,
blake

It has a nice corner location and windows you can see out of...so it's good
for people - watching. That little stretch of *** bars on (or that used to
be on) P Street there was SO seedy, rather incongruous because Embassy Row
and fancy hotels are mere steps away.

What hotel? I usually stayed at the Embassy Row Hilton on Mass.
Avenue...mere STEPS from the sleezy P St. action...and overlooking the
Turkish Embassy complex...also had a nice rooftop pool.

Also stayed at the older Carlyle Suites Hotel just north of Dupont...fun
little piano bar and steps away from 17th St. scene...

Ironically, I spent a few hours there too. Even after the three or so
hours, I still enjoy just sitting here thinking about Matteo and his
sandwich. Needless to say, my mouth was watering as it does anytime I
see something I really want to eat.
