My dietician/diabetes/wellness/health educator recommends nuts as
snacks because it's a safer way to get the omega 3 oils without all the mercury. I found some nuts at Walgreens which are wonderful. "Walgreens Select" Cashew and Macadamia lend. That's it. Big fat whole cashews and good sized whole macadamias with sea salt - not too salty!. They were $5.99 for a 9 oz. can. That's a hefty price, but these are beauties. Not broken. Don't know if anybody else has them. Lynn in Fargo |

I really prefer walnuts in salads or brownies. When I eat them alone, they can taste a little bitter. Thanks, Lynn, for mentioning the nuts at Walgreen's. I bake with flaxseed meal, which is also high in Omega 3 fatty acids. I ate a flaxseed muffin this morning. Becca |

For eating out of hand you can toast them, that'll sweeten 'em up a bit. You could caramelize them, too... > Thanks, Lynn, for mentioning the nuts at Walgreen's. I get all my nuts at Walgreens, they have very good prices and every week they have some on sale...check out their sale circular which you can pick up in - store or it's also online. They have their own house brand, they also carry name brands, e.g. Planter's and Blue Diamond. They sell a huge quantity of nuts so the turnover is pretty good... -- Best Greg |

I remember seeing those things vending machines. They were died red. They weren't very appealing. But then I tried one, and I was impressed. I later discovered that they regular ones are even better. They are downright addictive. |

Some variety goes on sale almost every week. I'm not crazy about peanuts--though I'll eat 'em--but love almost any other kind of nut. If y'all haven't tried the Diamond brand of wasabi-soy almonds... you're missing something... Not *too* hot but the bite is there. Best -- Terry |

I bought some Planters"Pecan Lovers' Mix" Half pecans woth pistachios and cashews, all of which I love, but I was really disappointed. The pistachios were really hard, the cashews weren't all that fresh and that was just too many pecans. I think I'll chop up the rest of 'em and make "Tassies". Lynn in Fargo |

I'll post an almond soup recipe for you in about 30 seconds. The almonds soften in the soup and you should be able to enjoy them. It's a very nice soup to start dinner with. But you're from Fargo so you probably have supper. <eg> Lou |

Well, I never thought about using walnuts instead of pine nuts when I make pesto, but I will give it a try. Thanks. I will check out Walgreen's for nuts. Becca |

One day I was at the beach and I was walking alone, looking at sea shells. I saw some interesting looking shells, then I realized they were pistachio shells. lol I am such an idiot sometimes. Becca |

The last batch of pesto I made I used a bag of walnuts I had left over from holiday making along with some Blue Diamond smoked almonds, it was quite tasty... > I will check out Walgreen's for nuts. They sell nuts in tins and also in bags (pecans, walnuts...) at prices way cheaper than most stupormarkets... I also buy most all of my candy at Wag's, they sell not only the mass - market stuff, but premium brands such as Lindt, Ghiradelli, Toblerone, etc. at very good prices, always something on sale. World Market is also another good place to pick up this stuff... -- Best Greg |

When I shop at the World Market, I should wear blinders. lol That is where I buy sugar-free Torani syrups, though. Becca |
