There's still a temporary "food coach" selling pie floaters etc. in
Victoria Square, outside the General Post Office, during the winter
months.

Peter,

Is it a "food coach"? I have a great memory, it's just short. What's it
actually called?

Someday I shall return. You've been warned! <VBG>

I object to the strawberry lamingtons :-). Didn't they have a recipe for
proper lamingtons? I want chocolate, dammit.

I helped my mum and some other mothers make them when I was in primary
school. (Lamington drives then involved lamingtons made by the mums, not
ordered from a company) Incredibly messy - but fun.

Yep....... I used to make them as well for my kids school fetes/sports
days/fund raisers etc. Now, being DINKS, it's just convenient to buy
some from our local bakery.

We'd only eat probably 6 each, per year.

No need for the 20-30 dozen I used to turn out per school year!!

So I bought 2 6-paks for the 26th. Got people coming in from all over Oz
for the long weekend. Got 6 creme filled, and 6 jam filled.

I've only ever had plain!!

The 26th is turning into quite a hectic day.

Lunch here (which is going to be big anyways!!), then 'relaxing' and
catching up till about 3pm, then walk around to one of the guests home
for a swim in his pool and pre-sundowners on his rear deck overlooking
the water...... then we all jump in a maxi-taxi and head off to another
mates place for lamb(s) on the spit for dinner.

4 people have their b'day on the day, so they, and all combined family
and friends are converging on one house (God help them!!) for a combined
AD/BD party!!

Here's hoping for a 'quiet night' :-)

Are you sure you aren't talking about spending Australia Day with your
Lions Club pensioners group Lucas?

Anyway Peter Lucas is soooo full of himself that he believes Australia
Day was set aside to celebrate Peter Lucas.

Also judging from his delusions of grandeur it looks like he is in his
manic cycle again.

Pie Cart.

The temporary "pie cart" is more of an enclosed trailer, though.

(I live in Adelaide City, a couple of streets away from Victoria Square
-- and the pie cart.)

The temporary pie cart is similar but uglier (its outer shell being
entirely unpainted metal).

I don't know if you ventured out of the city centre, but there's
sometimes another pie cart in the inner suburb of Norwood.

PS: Bet you'd never seen a capital city's Central Train Station that
quiet before

Horry,

No I didn't see the train station when it was busy. I was basically dragged
around Adelaide for a few days. Conferences and stuff. Then out across the
Flinder and Gawler ranges!

Can't say I've ever been to Kimba. And to be honest, I didn't know South
