Default Talked with Damsel on the Phone Today

Damsel/Carol called this afternoon and asked me to relay a message.

She and Crash are successfully keeping warm. Carol said she's not cold at
all. There's sun coming in the windows. Crash/Gene is wearing a bathrobe
and has a small space heater to help also. The heating system is supposed
to be replaced by next Wednesday or Thursday.

She hopes to have the laptop up and running shortly... I forget if she said
tonight or tomorrow night. I think tonight.

Chris

From where I am, a new heating system being a week away is not comforting
news! Then on the other hand, I was totally without heat and power during
the 99 ice storm for 2 weeks. I don't recall it being that terrible albeit
not exactly comfortable. Good news that Carol will be back online soon,
that will help keep the spirits up. I hope these are the signs that things
are on the mend for them!

That's good news after her last post! Will the landlord have the
electric back up and running? Or do they need to get to the store to
buy fuses?

unfortunately, no...I'm on the plains, and it's STILL stinking hot, at 1am,
it's 33.5 deg C (that's 92.3 deg F for you US-ers), though apparently it's
supposed to go down to 25 tonight

that's just plain wrong...I can still feel the heat radiating off the pavers
and the external walls of the house

another day of 40 predicted for tomorrow

It's not too bad here in the CBD at the moment (better than the last two
nights, anyway). There seems to be a bit of a breeze developing.

Maxine,

The electric is now up and running. Her friend who has the laptop forgot
to bring it today. She said it's colder in the house today than it was
yesterday and everyone is wearing bathrobes. The new furnace may have to
be postponed until he can get financing for it.

Queensland is looking pretty damn good at the moment, wouldn't you agree??

I remember those sorts of days from when I lived there (Osborne boy :-),
and then had the same thing over in Perth. 45c in the shade, and the air
was soooo damn hot and dry, you could feel every breath going down into
your lungs.

If it's not against health department code/regulations for tenants
to be without heat in frigid winter temperatures in MN, it should be.

IIRC the landlord lost the last place Damsel lived in to foreclosure.
Doesn't seem to be the best business person I've heard of. But this
is the price people with animals have to deal with when they rent. If
I were a renter I wouldn't have animals. If I were a landlord I
wouldn't rent to anyone with animals.

It absolutely is against the law here. Landlords must keep temperatures 68
or above, even if it's -20 outside. Postponed until he can get financing
for it?! WTF!! This dude has no business being a landlord.
