It's 16.something pounds, and was marked down to $1.30 per pound. There
were two of them at that price in the meat case; I grabbed the big one and left the normal-sized one for somebody else. There's no room in my freezer for it so it's still out in the truck while I figure out what to do with it. May grind it all up into chili meat and freeze it in 2-pound packages. Each one will make a nice big pot of chili. Or maybe I can cut a 7 or 8 pound chunk out of the middle and slow roast it, and grind the rest into hamburger. If I take the turkey out of the freezer and cook it this weekend, there would be room for the whole cryovac brisket in there... Bob |

Holy crap!! Most whole rumps I get are around the 4kg mark!! And they're huge!! But this way sounds like the best. A slow roast, and char-grilled burgers .... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. > > If I take the turkey out of the freezer and cook it this weekend, there > would be room for the whole cryovac brisket in there... > It'd take a month of Sundays to defrost it!! -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia Soldati, io esco da Roma. If I was still in Texas it might be different. (I'll bet you still get briskets for 99˘) Bob |

(I'll bet you still get briskets for 99˘) I bragged last year about finding a whole, packer cut 5.5lb brisket. It was sooooo cute, I just had to buy it. I corned it and it was perfect. But the average weight is about 13-15lbs and the regular price is $1.58/lb here in Central Texass. This is where they send all the briskets, so they're fairly cheap. -sw |

The trimmed briskets are ridiculous; IIRC they are about $4 or $5 per pound (I don't even look anymore) I better go move it up to the cab so it doesn't freeze overnight... Bob |
