I like the square plate too :-) We had steak sandwiches for dinner last night.... I took some rump, marinated it in EVOO and seasonings and stuck them in ziploc bags for about 3 days. Took them out and trimmed off all the fat and beat them with a (full) wine bottle till they were wafer thin, then seared in a red hot frypan. They went onto toasted wholemeal bread, with some green pawpaw and ginger chutney, some sliced tomatos and cucumber, green leaf lettuce mix, and some grated Grana Padano. The (cold) leftover steak I sliced into pieces like yours and let them sit in the juices from when they were hot, and made up a salad and stuck it all in a lunch box for the SO's lunch today. So what am *I* going to have for lunch?? Probably a Cup o' Soup, because I couldn't be arsed making anything for myself :-) > > Right now some spareribs and sauerkraut are simmering on the stove. > Yummoooo. The house smells so good. > You 'boil' your spareribs?? In with the 'kraut? -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia Tell me what you eat and I'll tell you who you are. Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin |

In with the 'kraut? NOoooooo I don't boil them, I simmer them. Yes, the kraut goes in from the get go. I am eating them as we speak. 4ax.com: >>Almost a boil :-) > >> >>Anyhoo's........ pork ribs? > > Yes. Hmmmmmmm, can't get my head around pork being cooked in water. Last time I had *any* meat cooked in water was a looooooooooooooong time ago. I think that put me off for life :-) Two Survival Courses way back in the 80's, one semi arid desert, the other in the jungle... we were taught that you *could* eat roadkill (roo) that had been on the side of the road for 2 weeks, and a monkey that had been shot and left in a tree for 2 weeks, as well. Boil the meat once and eat your fill. You can carry a bit of the meat for the next day or so and eat it cold, but *NEVER* boil it again..... otherwise it'll kill you. I think I'd bake/grill my pork ribs :-) > >>> Yes, the kraut goes in from >>> the get go. >>> I am eating them as we speak. >> >> >>No pic?? >> > Slurp...say what? oops. Claussens saurekraut in the refrigerator case. http://www.expotv.com/Claussen-Sauerkraut/1P-2Tg Claussens is good for your digestion, as well!! > >>I'm seriously going to have to go buy some and try it. > > Served over mashed potatoes, pure comfort food. The video got me going, cause we're going to be having a 'hotdog' night soon with some friends coming over, so I might just suprise the hell out of them and instead of the usual hotdog condiments, I'll be putting 'kraut on them :-) Failing the shops not having any, or any decent brands (I'll look for something made in Germany!!)...... I have a German friend who I might just hit up for some fresh made stuff. -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia Tell me what you eat and I'll tell you who you are. Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin |
