It's been high of 60-ish, low of mid-40s to low-50s
in San Diego.

Not even worth putting on a jacket.

We're having an unseasonably warm spell
here in Michigan, with similar temperatures.

It got down to 22* last night in the part of San Diego County I live
in. The car door locks and doors were frozen shut, and my cheesy
crappy ice scraper is a piece of shit.

Been in the low 30s at night here just north of you, Koko. Cold, damp
and windy. Yesterday, the winds were gusting so badly I could barely
keep my car on the road (the 73 north is wide open from the toll plaza
to Bonita Canyon). Just miserable. Not going to be any better anytime
soon, either.

The DH and I went to The Old Globe Saturday night to see "Six Degrees
of Separation." Horrible, horrible play. Stay. Away!

OB: Lunch was at El Ranchito today, the one on Balboa Peninsula. The
various El Ranchito restaurants are owned by the same family, but
operated by different family members and, boy, you can sure tell it.
The El Ranchito in Tustin on First St. and the 55 is awful, but the El
Ranchito on Balboa Peninsula is great.

OH, I worked at The Old Globe in my high school days working behind
the scenes. During Shakespearian days my sis was part of the dancing
on the green.

I'm planning my vacation and decided I'm going to be a tourist in my
own neck of the woods so that would be on my list.

YES! I've made maybe a half dozen dishes from that cookbook. One of
my faves is Bisteces Rancheros, which is made with very thin-cut
steaks and a cut I generally avoid. However, the picture looked yummy
and the recipe read well, so... it was great. Very "homely," as my
great aunt would say, and perfect for this type of weather. Actually,
that cookbook could be renamed from _All About Braising_ to _Winter
Comfort Food_.

Many, many thanks, aulde chum,

Girl, if you don't call me for a get together while you're up here,
I'll hunt you down and put a hex on your kitchen! In fact, if you need
a comfy crash pad, the DH and I have a spare bedroom you're more than
welcome to use. No extra charge for the ocean view :-)

Great company, ocean view and no hex's, I'll take you up on that
thank you very much.
I've been meaning to get up there and visit you guys for the longest
time.
When it gets closer I'll contact you and see when it's convenient for
you.

Thanks again,
koko

Yah, sure you betcha. That's chilly.

I made scalloped potatoes and ham last weekend. We've having
some of the leftovers for dinner tonight.

We're supposed to hit a low of 28 tonight and 17 on Sunday, a big
improvement from last week's -5.

But I park my car in the garage. Garages (and basements) are almost
a requirement here. Most people wouldn't buy a house without
one. Of course, the average house price here is only about $200,000.
That's typically a 1500 square foot house on a basement with a
garage.

Deal. I'll even make the supreme sacrifice of taking time off work

<sigh> the things I do for friends :-)
