Who's ate at...? (first ever rfc revolving restaurant review poll)
OK... here's how to play.... A member names a restaurant they've visited, maybe including the name, location, what they had (have) and some "had better/had worse" review of some type. The membership can reply only if they've been there too, closing the reply by asking the same question of another restaurant THEY'VE been to. This thread should no doubt splinter into a million sub threads in no time if played right. I'll start,.. Who's been to: Pat's Cheesesteaks, Philadelphia, PA Had a cheesesteak w/American cheese and fried onions. Had much better! Andy |

I ate a half an order of eggs Benedict (one egg. half a muffin, Canadian bacon and scratch Hollandaise with fresh asparagus) and a "Wally Bue" pancake: tender, moist buttermilk batter with fresh blueberries and toasted walnuts. Best breakfast I ever ate in my life. Lynn in Fargo Barb had an omelet with asparagus and Hollandaise. |

Lynn in Fargo... Wait, you didn't RTFM! ![]() I began the game at Pat's Steaks. You had to have been there to continue that restaurant in game. So you'd answer... Pat's Steaks, yep, been there. Had a cheesesteak with mushrooms and cheez-whiz. I've had worse. Have you been to: Al's Breakfast" in Mpls/StPaul? Being Player #3, Al's Breakfast is now a place in the game to continue from. NOW, Barb could reply, I've been to Al's, etc. and close, offering up a restaurant she's been to, etc., etc. Also to clarify the rules, anyone at anytime during the game can also claim "I've been there" to any posted restaurant and again close with their "Have you been to... [my visited restaurant]". Best, Andy Player #2 |

It shouldn't actually be a game! Two, I can't imagine how such a splintered thread could be conveniently observed by the members on a Usenet delivery basis. Impossible? Any ideas? Best, Andy |

What was I thinking.
www.Yelp.com is a mushrooming resource you can carry around in your pocket. Somplace anywhere, want to see a movie, it'll fetch the theaters around you, show you the films and times and GPS direct you there. Same for restaurants. Need French Thai when you're in El Paso, TX, it'll probably get you there. The cell phone (iPhone, here) is so indispensable. I don't see the point in furthering the game. It wouldn't serve the wandering masses! [Game closed] Andy |

I was slammed into the road. My head hit first. If it hadn't been for my helmet, I'd be dead. Instead I got up with a few knee scraps, raised the motorcycle and rode home. And BTW, I listen to local radio frequencies and when there's roadkill of any kind, if you call the game commission, upon their approval, it's yours for the taking. Ex & Ex sis-in-law pulled my leg, while leaving Margate, New Jersey after a weekend stay, driving the back bay swamplands (heading back to Pennsylvania) there were countless roadkill turtles. They told me that the Bookbinder's (famous Philly fish cuisine) restaurant trucks would scrape them up off the road and turn them into their snapper (turtle) soup, which I'd tried and enjoyed. I protested in disbelief! They couldn't hold it in too long before they both burst out laughing! Andy Gullible in NJ! |

It's in Dinkytown, which abuts the U of Minn. Barb and I squeezed ourselves in there one morning and, lo and behold! Barb's jam was sitting on the shelf in the kitchen area. I still have the picture of Barb and the staff with a jar of that jam someplace around here. You could about throw a rock and hit the DH's family homestead from Al's - their place is right below the "witch's hat" in Prospect Park. <snip> >Best breakfast I ever ate in my life. Pro'lly b/c the joint only seats a dozen or so customers and by the time you're seated, you'd eat sofa cushions and think they're tasty! Terry "Squeaks" Pulliam Burd -- "If the soup had been as hot as the claret, if the claret had been as old as the bird, and if the bird's breasts had been as full as the waitress's, it would have been a very good dinner." - Duncan Hines To reply, replace "meatloaf" with "cox" |

It was pretty impressive. Good coffee, too. While we waited, Barb ran back to the car for supplies and handed out crackers with her jam spread on them to the customers. It was a hoot. gloria p |

Minneapolis. :-) Dinkytown, the 'college' residential/retail area adjacent to the NW edge of the main campus in Minneapolis. I understand that you can send a letter addressed to "Al's, Dinkytown, USA" and it will arrive there. :-) > I ate a half an order of eggs Benedict (one egg. half a muffin, > Canadian bacon and scratch Hollandaise with fresh asparagus) and a > "Wally Bue" pancake: tender, moist buttermilk batter with fresh > blueberries and toasted walnuts. > > Best breakfast I ever ate in my life. > > Lynn in Fargo > Barb had an omelet with asparagus and Hollandaise. I'm glad you remember, because I didn't. :-o) I usually have the Eggs Benny because Grinna makes the hollandaise from scratch and it is quite delicious. The Wally Blues are outstanding, too. -- -Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ http://web.me.com/barbschaller http://gallery.me.com/barbschaller |
