Since I've always been basically Blinky's echo regarding this, it just has to be said. 1. This is not a Google Group, and Google has nothing to do with it, other than providing a ******* web interface to view it. This is Usenet, and it is a completely different medium. 2. Get a proper newsreader and set up a Usenet account. news.individual.net is a good one at a cheap rate, and filters out 99.9% of the crap you are complaining about so that I never see it. 3. Blinky wouldn't have said this, because he would have never seen you. He had all Google Groupers killfiled to begin with. I don't go that far except in a few groups where they are a problem. I don't have to killfile them to filer spam, because, as stated above, my provider does so. |

I have no clue what you're writing about? I *might* see one or two spam messages a week. My filter is set up with the obvious terms to catch most (shoes, Rolex, prada, etc.) and yet even if I look to see the messages the filter has deleted there are actually very few. My newsreader service must do a hellafa job before I'm bothered with it. |

If he's telling the truth, he's older than me but someone should tell him that most news readers have the ability to set up rules and it's not difficult. A current microsoft.public group that I read seems to be under attack at the moment and my rules only allow about 10% of the posts. -- James Silverton Potomac, Maryland Email, with obvious alterations: not.jim.silverton.at.verizon.not |

First he needs a news reader. People who think rfc is part of GoogleGroups think that because they use GG for their access. If you want to take on this project, more power to you. I'm sorry, but if you're going to do Blinky and be credible, you must first Super Glue a shark fin on top of your head. Now, get to it, and post pictures when you're done. After that, we will know you have a clue what you are posting about. And get a custom made fur hat to cover that fin when you go out in the cold. Steve ;-) |

I've been fighting Google Groupers as long as Blinky. That guy really had a way of getting people to listen to him, didn't he? I thought briefly of changing my name to Winky the Shark, but Blinky was doing a lot of things differently than me. I wouldn't tarnish his memory. I'm not a shark. He did a lot of things that nobody could do as well. The only thing we really had in common was that we both detest Google Groups. Hell, he was a Dodgers fan. Nonetheless, I loved the guy. I wish I would have told him how much I always got a kick out of his posts, his sense of humor, etc. Believe me - I took time out this week to tell others in my life how I feel about them. |
