That's what I tell my friends when they try to drag me along. The Chiros
work well for people with certain types of injuries.

LOL!!! They certainly take an overall 'holistic' approach to just about
everything!!

Family Dinner = Less Drug Use!

Research in the past has shown that the more often a family eats together,
the less likely a teenage child is to smoke, drink or use illegal drugs.
Plus, they tend to do better academically.

A survey published by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse
at Columbia University has revealed regular family dinners produce
benefits that stretch beyond those obtained at the dinner table. A
University of Minnesota study even found that families who eat together
are less likely to have children who suffer from eating disorders.

But with dance lessons, practice, homework and the demands of a career and
a long commute, sitting down together for an evening meal can be a
challenge. Here are some tips:
Pick a Meal

It doesn't have to be dinner. Turns out the positive effects are not
limited to the evening meal.
Snack Strategically

If your child is hungry at 5 p.m. but dinner is scheduled for 7 p.m.,
offer a protein snack to tide him or her over.
Plan Menus

Design an entire week’s worth of meals in advance. Reduce stress by having
the ingredients you need in advance.
Prep Ahead

If you have time in the morning, use it to wash and trim the vegetables
you plan to cook or thaw the meat you intend to cook that evening.
Think Fast

Many nutritious meals can be stir-fried or broiled, two speedy ways to
cook quickly. Save meals that are more elaborate for weekends.
No TV

Keep this time sacred. Share stories and the highlights of your day
without the distraction of the news.

Given that frequent family dinners have such a positive influence on
children, find ways to make this a habit in your family. “What was the
best thing that happened to you today?”

I don't consider that to be a bad thing.
Better living thru Chemistry has it's drawbacks sometimes...

Correlation never did equal causation for the most part, but the above
(imho mind you) seems to make common sense to me?

Ah, read the below a bit more. Nevermind. <g>

Is that such a bad thing? :-)
I don't even take Ibuprofen anymore... Quit working well and it's risky
for the renal function. Now I use an ice bag and you know what? It
works better and faster!

I get to explore my inner masochist. <g>

Thing is Blake, it really has healed the problem. I've been having
chronic leg pain and partial disability issues now for _months_. 2
weeks and 4 (painful) treatments and the chronic issues are 95% resolved.

It may hurt but it really is damned well worth it!

It's nice to actually get the problem fixed and better than living on
pain killers. I have a co-worker that's constantly on the search for
better drugs. Better living thru chemistry is her way.

I'd rather not live that way, and it's wonderful to be able to run
again! I honestly thought I'd never be able to again...
Driving long distance was also next to impossible.

Not at all.

I just thought it was funny that a Chiropracter website is telling people
how to organise their family meals and how to prepare them..... I looked
for recipes, but there aren't any!!

I stay right away from most medications. Last time I was in hospital, they
gave me some crap for pain that caused even *more* pain because it
'clogged' me up and stopped me from crapping!!

I just use 'mind over matter'. I don't mind, the pain doesn't matter :-)

Sometime after I read the above, I saw a commercial on tv saying the
same thing. I thought it was a little bit funny.

again, if it works for you, fine. i would just be wary of a treatment
regimen that's only available in texas (as i think you wrote).

Try Dr. Ben Kim's website if you want recipes from a Chiropractor:

+Kim>

I really like his site and subscribe to his newsletter.

Since I've quit using Ibuprofen, my pain tolerance has gone way up. It
comes in handy.

Especially now. <g>

That's actually an unfair comparison Blake.
Dr. Perry is healing me. I can do things now after only two weeks that
I've not been able to do in MONTHS.

Dr. Mengele tortured and killed people.

If you research it further, you will find that not to be true actually.
Airrosti is a patented name and technique, granted, but similar therapy
is available US wide, just under different names.

It goes after the facial part of the injury.

You see, my leg has been injured more than once. I got clipped by a
pickup truck several years ago for one thing that did serious damage to
that leg. That stupid measly fall I took off of a step last April was
just the last straw.

The facial membranes were distorted and causing adhesions so the muscles
could not move right anymore. He's fixing that damage.

Why should I be leery when I can move freely again for the first time in
9 months when nothing else has worked? :-) I go by results dear.

This one??

http://drbenkim.com/taxonomy_menu/4

LOL!! The first thing I saw was a Carrot and 'Cilantro' dish :-)

On a coriander note....... a friend just got out of hospital after being
given the Last Rites, family flew up from Adelaide because the Dr's said "It
may be best to get family members here... NOW.", etc...... she is now on a
*very* strict "you cannot eat this" regime.

Corinader, ginger, garlic, soy, etc are on the "no-no" list.

She was/is a regular at our place, so I'm going to have to get a copy of her
'booklet/bible' and study it for future dinner parties.

So far it looks like anything Chinese is out of the question. Something to do
with Vitamin K.

We've just found out she has 'Factor 5 Leiden'..... after she had knee
surgery.

Mine has always been high.

It's always painfully 'delicious' to reach the threshold though :-)

It lets you know you're still alive ;-)

I think smurfey belongs to that part of the population that is scared of
anything new.

Like a caveman seeing an electric light for the first time.

And generally releases lots of endorphins...

It's one of the reasons I enjoy weight lifting so much. I've seriously
gotten back into it and am fixin' to re-join the local hard core gym
next week.

His loss... but I'd rather help him to understand.

I was a bit apprehensive at first, but it truly has been worth it. The
20 minutes of pain he inflicts eliminates not only chronic pain, but
weakness. That leg literally did not function properly until he worked
on it.

I am grateful.

LOL!!! She aint dead yet!!

The one thing that was a hoot out of all this hoo-haa with her...... when
she was home, we went around for a coffee (for the girls) and beer (for
the boys).

She started talking about "seeing a white path" yadda, yadda, yadda.

Yeah.... she died 3 times.......

But *now*....... she looked me in the eye and said "Now I know why you are
like you are. I'm going to be the same way from now on."

She has become a completely different person. Before she was very
compliant, and very accomodating.

She has found out that life is too damn short... to suffer fools, or to
put up with *anyones* crap.

Nahhhhhhhh, it's not worth it.

Save the 'help' for someone who *is* worth it.

Bite me babycakes. ;-)
I did not utter a sound for the first 3. The 4th, he went after the
right IT band and it was already freakin' sore from using a foam roller
on it.

I did not raise the roof or anything tho' like some of his patients have.
I do have SOME pride.

Heavy deadlifts still do that for me. Leaves me high for hours.
I started deadlifting again last week and will be joining the local hard
core gym again Tuesday morning. I love free weights too much to put it
off any longer now that I can move again.

So am I. <g>
It's nice to be able to run again.
I honestly thought I'd never be able to. That sucked. I'm only 46.

Should not take that long! He's advising me to take it slow as this
issue is so old, but I'm going to push it as hard as I dare.

I just don't want to re-injure myself but am not sure where to draw the
line.

Are you ready to admit that that was a cruel and uncalled for remark
Blake? Yes, he hurt me, but it's all good as the results are beneficial.

Kinda like Surgeons that cut you open to save your life or whatever. Do
you really think that THAT does not hurt?

This therapy is less invasive. <g>

I doubt the smurf will see it that way. Maybe because it's confined to a

"What does not kill you makes you stronger".

In this case, it's literally true. After only 2 treatments, that very
weak leg had almost normal strength and function again. I've got home PT
assignments using resistance bands to return it to full strength.

Jump Stretch bands are a good thing. ;-)

It's amazing that just having your skin out of place can screw up your
mobility so much!!

Pretty much. <g> It'd hurt tho' if it was not covered with a Dermis...

I'm babysitting again tonight. Dyson weighs just enough, I traded him a
back rub for him to walk on my back. I wish I had them over more often.
Kids are handy for that sort of thing.

I also had him sit on my back while I did some of my PT work (Bridge
exercise for core strength).

He weighs 48 lbs.

I've got them until around 3am. We are watching movies.

Morgan, the younger, weighs 40 but he's only 3. Not a fat child, just
"stocky". Dyson is 6 and is taller and more slender in bone structure.

I forgot to buy grapes for them for snacking tonight, so sliced up some
pickles and put them in a bowl with some cocktail shrimp. When they got
here earlier today, they asked me to make them some scrambled eggs and
cheese. :-) They also ate some of the braised chicken I made for dad
and I earlier.

I love sitting them. They are great kids. Of course that's the
advantage of being an Auntie. I can borrow them for a few hours at a
time and play with them, then give them back when I'm done playing with
and spoiling them. <eg>

Just on 22kgs.

He'd be good for (repetition) bench presses too :-)

Half the age and only 8lbs lighter, Dyson better watch out and be real nice
to his younger brother in the coming years ;-)

Yep......... I used to think that way too. Now I just couldn't be bothered
with the little buggers!! :-)

I'm too busy and don't have the time to pander to some snot-machine :-)

You've never had anyone walk up and down your back? Especially over the
lumbar, it feels WONderful.

<lol> I may have to try that. I think he'd have fun!

I offered to keep them for the night, but Chas' said they'd go ahead and
pick them up. They are at a party.

Morgan is actually the quieter and more gentle of the pair. He's a
huggy boy. :-) Dyson is a bit hyper. My border collie is about the only
thing that can wear him out!

That's just it. These are not a pair of "snot machines". They are 3 and
6 so old enough for me to simply have fun with... I'm rarely "busy" on
weekends unless I'm doing volunteer work for the SM-PD.

Writing parking tickets can be entertaining. <eg>

Yep, I've had it before....... a lovely Chinese girl in a foreign
land........ but that's another story ;-P

I'll have to have a chat with the SO and see if she'll let me try it again
when we're in Malaysia next month..... but somehow I *don't* think she'll
come to the party on that one ;-)

I wouldn't be having *any* parents come to my place at *3am*, especially
after a party, to pick kids up!!

But that's just me :-)

Tell Dyson he has to be wary of the quiet one's ;-)

Nahhhh, don't be. I've been there, done that for more years than I care to
remember. From now till I cark it, it's 'me/us time'. The SO feels the same
way.

Don't 'take a-fence' :-)

It's a "term of endearment".... Aussie style :-)

Well it's certainly not Santa Monica..... so it must be San Marcos :-)

So you moonlight as a part-time cop??

Ah, okay. I'm still learning Aussie slang! It's "complex" <g>

San Marcos, Tcxas.

>

Not really. I'm just a trained volunteer. We do mostly community
service stuff for the PD, (fund raising, Blue Santa, Warrant calling and
other community service stuff) but twice per year we help with Parking
Enforcement at the Outlet Mall when the traffic is very heavy. We write
tickets for parking in Fire/Red zones and Handicap spots. The fines can
get heavy for that sort of thing. Parking violations are a civil, not
criminal offense so civilians can write tickets for that.

I took our local Citizens Police Academy class last Spring. That made me
eligible to join the Alumni Association and do volunteer work. They
won't let just anyone do this. :-) It's fun and gets me out of the
house. Plus, cops are fun to hang out with.

There is a major CPA convention coming up that our chapter is hosting,
so that will give us a LOT of work to do here in July.

i'm glad it's working for you, but i have to believe the are conventional
treatments that work and aren't as painful. oviously you don't agree, and
that's fine.
