Making a big pot of turkey gumbo today (*big* pot. About 10 quarts.)
First gumbo I've made this winter. Would it be too heretical to serve it with brown rice instead of white? (I also have wild rice that needs to be cooked, but that's too weird even for me) Bob |

Plain turkey gumbo might be heretical unless you also plan to add andouille sausage ![]() Jill |

But it's really up to you, isn't it? If you like the taste/texture or prefer the nutirtional value of brown rice more, go for it. I just hope Emeril doesn't stop by for a taste... ![]() Kris |

Three years ago I would never have thought to put whole wheat pasta in my mouth. Now I look for preps that profit from that rich flavor. Is it OK to make gumbo with sun-dried tomato sausage? Hm. Alex, who says go for it. |

If you want to eat your gumbo over brown rice, do it. End of story. |

I see no reason why it wouldnt work well enough if the seasonings were adjusted to complement the brown rice. |
