I'm sorry, you cannot be told what the ideal meals are until you have
been approved by the rfc cabal as qualified to receive the answer.

Night shift meaning 11-7 ish? Are you talking breakfast at 10PM

That works for me. I'm not much for traditional "breakfast" foods
anyway. Leftovers are marvelous for breakfast!

A big breakfast is only good on 2 occasions;

Sunday morning about 10:00 AM

Or

Sunday Morning after 2:30 AM
(it takes 1/2 hour to get to the restaurant from the bar.)

Since I rarely make breakfast but did so yesterday, I'll
chime in with one of my favorites: migas. (Which *is*
Tex-Mex food, unlike a lot of the things that are mistakenly
called Tex-Mex food...)

The ingredients were two fresh serannos, four tortillas,
three eggs, maybe three ounces of cheddar cheese, 1/2 a
bell pepper, and a few ounces of red enchilada sauce.
I soak the tortilla pices in a little water before sauteeing them
and the peppers, then add the eggs and other ingredients.
The procedure is remarkably similar to making matzo brie,
but with tortillas instead of matzos.

I think it would work fine after a graveyard shift too.

I used to like working graveyard. Felt a special bond with the other
folks awake at 4AM, and a certain contempt for the masses that started
to swarm at rush hour. (I've been a security gaurd, gas station
attendant, line cook on midnights. All a long time ago.)

Afternoon shifts were the worst. Felt like I couldn't start anything
in the morning and the day was shot by the time I got off.

OBFood - fixin' to fix some Tunesian tuna/egg deep fried thing.
Mentioned it on some other thread. Check epicurious. Smells good so
far.

To the troll,

Any breakfast you can arrive to and leave from is an ideal breakfast!

First off, one tends to have friends that work the same hours We used
to go out to eat after work; in any urban area there are plenty of
places to eat that are open all night.
Being a nightowl by nature, sleeping wasn't ever a problem. Needed much
less sleep when working nights than needed at a usual 'day job'.

Never got that much time to eat at work (and often no dedicated space),
so brought in small meals that could be downed quickly. Generally ate
whatever was in the fridge for 'breakfast' as soon as I got home. After
a few hours of sleep, made a normal 'dinner' and packed more to take
along.

<snipped for space>

Good post Christine. :-) I understand since I work night shifts too.
Weekends often have me doing a lot of cooking around 2 to 3 am. <g>
My body's circadian rythym is set up for that.

As for work, I used to just do a lot of fresh salads as I could make
those quickly and easily in the break room.

Lately, I now make up a 50 gram Whey Protein shake and just drink a
little of it when I get hungry. I most often make them last 4 hours or
so.

I eat one REAL meal that I cook for myself at home, generally involving
some fresh cooked meat and green veggies. I've had a craving for baby
spinach the last couple of weeks and have gone thru over 3 lbs. of it.

I'm just eating it plain/raw with my choice of animal flesh. ;-d

Weight loss is going well. Pain is a good incentive. <g>

I'm fixin' to set up the table top roaster here in a bit when I get my
house cleaning done. I've got some chicken and turkey to roast along
with some veggies for the week.

A great quick breakfast after work is a grilled steak, microwaved
baked potato and salad. Prep time is 10 minutes.
