I was supposed to make a dessert with my son this past weekend for the
Cub Scouts banquet. My wife gave me a very easy Snicker Doodles recipe. Which I didn't read through before I started. Was supposed to have 1 1/2 c sugar in the mix, then 1 1/2 c for sprinkling along with cinnamon. I put all 3 cups in the mix, then we still needed to sprinkle them with more. Oops. I'm sure the parents didn't notice that their kids were a little more sugared up than usual. They were good cookies, though. |

Yes, that sort of thing often happens. I bet your recipe had a list of ingredients at the top, and one of them was something like: 3 cups sugar, divided Did you tell your wife about your mistake? So they baked up OK? No weird texture from so much sugar? Kris, who's husband could easily do the same thing |

He was actually quite competent in the kitchen, but it just wasn't his thing. My mother's father, OTOH, was an excellent baker. I have three brothers and three of us are pretty good at baking. The other one can, but he is not much of a dessert eater so he doesn't bother. |
