Are there any brands of bags that will work on the Tilia FoodSaver
other than their bags? They are pretty expensive and sometimes the cost of the bags outweighs the money saved in buying food in bulk. |

The bags are reusable. I turn the used bags inside out and run them through the dishwasher, held to the basket with wooden clothes pins. No ill effects from that in the last ten years. Even if you wash them by hand it is cost effective. I know Jardin would like it better if you just tossed them but I don't. |

I wash and reuse mine too. Can't put them in the dishwasher since there is a wash arm under the upper basket. Check the prices here. If you order them in quantity you can do better than the outlet kitchen stores. I think I ordered about 10 rolls of 8" last time. Quantity discount and no sales tax they were cheaper the local places even with shipping. -- Susan N. I keep looking for the rolls in stores but haven't found any in the usual stores. I will have to make a special trip for them. I had problems with the last double roll I got. I couldn't get them to seal and ended up having to seal three sides before sealing the open end. At the price they charge for those things they should work first time every time. |

I've been buying the Orved brand channeled vacuum bags through Costco Canada's on line site. They work out to less than half the price of making bags from Tilia FoodSaver rolls. They come in three sizes and are priced including shipping. You can see them he http://tinyurl.com/c24avt However, I don't know if Costco in other parts of the world carries the same stuff. Ross. |

I gave up on the Tilia Food Saver and went to the Reynolds system. It works better for me when freezing fresh meats. With the Tilia system I had to either freeze the meat first or put a wad of paper towling into the bag because any moisture came up through the bag and messed up the machine. The Reynolds system doe4sn't care about the moisture. It works just as well as the expensive Tilia system. I'm selling my Tilia at the next neighborhood garage sale. |

As pointed out to you try ebay or Bed, Bath, & Beyond if one is located near you. At BB&B they come two rolls to a box and if you have one of their 20% off coupons, even better! And yes, do wash them and use them again. I've had great luck reusing mine after a thorough washing. |

I've burned out one unit due to overuse. I'm on the second. In both accounts, I have found that the pre-made bags are better quality-sometimes the seals on the 'do-it-youself' rolls pop. |
