Or, as I prefer to phrase it: It's all about thermodynamics.

That said, many people find that appetite control goes better
with macronutrient adjustment. Most people could lose weight
on 1200 calories worth of pure white sugar every day, but it would
be hell being around them as their blood sugar oscillated up
and down.

Above all, if it were easy, everybody would do it.
