Default Most food at one sitting?

Joseph,

Pizza parlors make a different brand of pizzas.

Take Digorno's frozen self-rising crust pizza! I could only eat two slices
of the pepperoni version. I'm certain that it continues to self-rise, bite
after bite in my stomach.

At the same by-the-slice (or full order) in town pizza parlor, I could eat
two thin crust jumbo pepperoni slices and leave without feeling bloated.

I've finished a Trader Joe's 12" frozen Margherita thin crust pizza, with
some breaks in between slices.

I also polished off a box of Stouffer's frozen (2) French bread pepperoni
pizzas in one sitting. Burned the roof of my mouth in no time at all.
Dammit!

Nothing stellar for "most food at one sitting" there.

Barqs root beer, just not 2 liters of it.

Best,

Andy

Kate,

I'm the same way. One shorti hoagie and some potato chips, nowadays.

The cable Travel Channel's "Food Paradise: Sandwich Paradise" program was
on again a week ago, showcasing Primanti's! As fun and delicious as the
sandwiches look, I couldn't!

Best,

Andy

When we were at Sam's Club my husband came close to buying their Sushi.
Has anyone ever tried it? I am guessing they get it at the same
supplier, but I could be wrong.

Not me, but I've never liked any "commercial" sushi that came premade
- no matter how highly recommended.

It seems as if every grocery store in the world now has someone come in
to make their sushi almost daily. Even our military commissary now has
a sushi counter. They all seem to wear the same outfit and are there for
a few hours a day. Maybe on company has the racket on sushi makers and
they make a circuit of x amount of stores each day...? I buy the tuna
sushi at times for my son who has never complained about any of it, so I
assume it is good? My problem lies in him getting over on the day I
bring it home and to pick it up so he can eat it while freshest.

Believe what you want dear. ;-) There is a reason I've been fighting my
weight for years. <lol>

I've overhauled my lifestyle over time!

It was "Panteras" pizza. They've since gone out of business.

Said large pizza was eaten over a couple of hours during my College
graduation party.

I believe it. BTDT although without fries and certainly *not* with root
beer (yuk). When in my 'sporty' years, eating like that was never a
problem, although not done every day.
Even not so many years ago ate about 80 percent of a rotisserie chicken;
admittedly it didn't weigh more than 3 lbs or so. On the way home from
work, walked past a deli that roasted chickens. The smell was toooooo
delicious. Bought one (in thermal wrapping), put it in my briefcase and
thought of little else on the Tube ride home Barely managed to get
it on a plate and on the table before ripping into it! But also not a
regular occurrence.

I used to be a big eater when I was a kid. For many years, I was as thin
as a pole, but my eating caught up with me when I was in college. When I
was in my early teens, a new pizza place opened up about a mile from
where we lived in Northeast Philly. That place was called Giovanni's.
Their Philly cheesesteaks were outstanding! I used to work for my dad
when I was a kid and he paid me well, so I always had money to send out
for food when my parents went out on weekends.

I used to order Giovanni's 3 foot long Philly cheesesteak with
provolone, mushrooms, and pizza sauce, plus a large order of fries and a
liter of Pepsi. I ate the entire thing for dinner, not a bit left over.
Now, I couldn't eat anywhere near that amount of food, least of all that
much fried meat and cheese on a roll.

Root beer = sarsaparilla??

GIMF...........

http://www.root-beer.org/questions.htm

Is sarsaparilla different from root beer? (sarsaparilla photo right
courtesy Wellesley University)

Since sarsaparilla (botanical Aralia nudicaulis, Spanish sarza - bramble
or shrub, parilla - vine, also called Smilax), also called sassparilla
(sassafras & sarsaparilla) and sas'parilla, is almost always flavored
primarily with sassafras, and the additional spice of sarsaparilla (and
very few people can taste any difference between sarsaparilla and root
beer made by the same company), Root Beer World considers sarsaparilla to
be root beer. For a different view, see Sarsaparilla vs. Root Beer.

Heh! The stop at Ironworks BBQ was planned.

It's been nearly a year since I've driven to North Austin. It hurt too
much to drive that far! The therapy is working, but I did start aching a
bit about 1/2 way back home. Austin traffic SUCKS! I spent at least 1
1/2 hours in crawling bumper to bumper traffic. I drive a stick shift so
that put extra strain on the bad leg as it goes back and forth between
the gas pedal and the brake.

Perry told me to get a specific brand of Orthotics for foot problems so
I braved the trip to Whole Earth Provisions to get a couple of pairs of
"Superfeet" sole inserts.

I took advantage of the trip to hit MT Asian Supermarket, Fiesta Mexican
Market (to get some Phoenix claws) and Ironworks for dinner. Best damned
beef ribs in the entire area!

I bought a duck and some squid along with other goodies from the Asian
market. Also stocked up on 10 lbs. of Sesame seeds. That'll last me, my
sis' and Lynda a good year and I'll keep them in the freezer, filling
shaker jars as needed. I've been out for awhile.

No I hadn't but I'm not surprised more competitive eaters haven't died like
that.

Mine might have been similar, but sub corn for peas. It was at an
AYCE at a KFC. 14 pieces of Orig Rec chicken, plus sides. Once, I
ate 12 pieces of fish at a Long John Silver's. I used to go to the
one near my work on Sundays. Then they quit doing the AYCE, so I quit
going there. About a year or so later, I went back there, and one
longtime employee told a more recent hire, "That's the guy who ate 11
pieces of fish..." I replied that although that was admittedly a lot,
that surely I was not the only one to do so. She retorted that I was
the only person she'd ever seen eat 11 pieces of fish. My reply was,
"I ate 12 one time at the one on Hampton." It was true. Somehow,
fried fish of any sort is difficult for me to stop eating, and the
price of frozen tilapia filets makes it even harder.

I salt and pepper them, the coat in cornmeal and fry in peanut oil.
Lot's of fresh lemon or lime squeezed on. Mmmmm

This was at a pizza place. Probably done on a dare :P Not actually that
much of a pizza fan these days, with or without the root beer.

Double yuk LOL. One of my first teenage culinary jobs was working the
dessert station in a dept. store restaurant (in the US). Made a lot of
root beer floats. Just the smell of the stuff still makes me gag

Cool. Tried fencing for a while in school.Wasn't aggressive enough to be
good at it back then. Should take it up *now* hehehe...

My major sports were swimming and short distance running. Minor forays
into tennis and gymnastics.

Fencing is a lot of fun. :-) It also attracts an interesting crowd so
the people are fun to hang out with.

My other sports in college were Archery, Scuba diving and Weight Lifting.
I could only wish I had the coordination for gymnastics. <g>

I've recently gotten back into serious weight lifting. I'd forgotten
about how sore some muscles can get. I think I pulled an ab muscle
yesterday when doing cable crunches with 70 lbs. (around 35k)
I feel it every time I stretch. ;-p

The smell of those things are unbelievable. I've got enough to last me
a few meals. I don't get to hit Ironworks very often! It's been nearly
a year. I got 1/2 of a slab of pork ribs for dad and 8 beef ribs for
myself...

I have yet to make a batch of boneless fried chicken large enough that
my 14 year old son actually stopped eating on his own. There's
something about that combination of hot, crunchy and boneless that takes
the brakes off.

If I had been willing to continue standing over a pan full of hot oil,
who knows how much he'd have been willing to consume?

It goes beyond pure gluttony, I think. He's growing so fast that if you
put him up against a printed background you can see him elongating.
6'1", 160 pounds, in the company of his peers he looks like a wolfhound
running with terriers. The growing pains hurt, I remember that well
enough, but I also know he revels in his new size and strength.

At McDonalds the other night, at a post-play dinner, he knelt down
tableside to talk to a friend (the place was packed). A classmate ran
over, goofing around, and jumped onto his shoulders. It didn't work out
as planned, though, because dear son pushed up to a stand and banged the
kid's head into the ceiling.

The manager forgave them because the ceiling panel was only displaced
and not broken.

It's a wonder any of us survive adolescence.

My first job was waitressing at a local "coffee shop". I learned how
to make a mean milkshake and still like a rootbeer float on a hot
day... actually my favorite float is pineapple, made with the
pineapple they used to put on sundaes. Around here, they use Toranni
- which is a wimpy flavor when you're looking for a wallop.

I've never had kids, but I'm looking forward to the experience of
watching my nephews grow up now that sis' has moved back into town from
Phoenix. :-)

I've got them right now and just grilled some pork chops for them. Sis'
and BIL are at the IMAX.

They are only 3 and 6 so have a long ways to go...

Could you be more specific about the pineapple float you used to like? I'm
trying to put it together in my head, and my best guess is something like
this:

Cook pineapple topping with simple syrup in a covered pot for at least half
an hour. Strain into a seltzer bottle and charge with CO2 to make pineapple
soda. Chill. Fill soda glass three-quarters full with pineapple soda and top
with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Was it something like that?

You go girl! :-)

My post workout meal is generally a whey protein shake, or lunch
depending on how late it is.

I don't know why they insist on using Torani. Torani is meant for
coffee and tea, not ice cream. It's not strongly flavored enough.

Please post the recipe. Mojito time!

Must agree with that. Those Torani syrups lack flavour and the range
sold around here is very limited.
Time to make more mint syrup, which is my favourite. Second favourite is
true grenadine.

How can you regret brownies and milk, no matter how late you eat them?
Maybe he's sensitive to milk, I dunno.

Mostly like this, minus the corn syrup:

Minted Simple Syrup

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 1/2 cups packed fresh mint leaves, chopped (more is good and can use
washed whole stalks of mint)

In a saucepan bring sugar, water, corn syrup and mint to a boil,
stirring until sugar is dissolved. Simmer syrup, undisturbed, 2 minutes.
Pour syrup through a fine sieve, pressing on solids. Cool at room
temperature.
Syrup keeps, covered, in the refrigerator for weeks.

Makes 1 1/2 cups

What we do is boil up the simple syrup without the mint first, then add
the mint and turn off the heat. Let the mint cool in the covered pan of
syrup. Then strain out the solids and bottle in a sterilised jar and
cover. Not simmering the mint seems to keep a fresher flavour. Try it
both ways and see which you prefer.

For me, it'd be the flour. <g>

I still ask Lynda to make me a couple of brownies for Christmas!

And I ask my sister for Baklava... She's now making it in muffin tins in
single servings! Lynn brought me 2 of them on Friday and Saturdays are
my cheat day.

Both are still in the 'frige at the moment. I've not felt like cheating
yet this weekend and the Hobart is currently holding right at 32 degrees
F. I'm having trouble thawing meat in it at the moment.

I think I need to turn the thermostat down 2 degrees.

YVW. Just adjust the amount of mint to your liking. They all vary in
strength.
