Both my parents died suddenly and have been dead since the 1990s. Can I get
one of those?

Hug offered.

A tangent:

My dad died in 1985 (my mom more recently). He was two generations
older than me, and was a musician when he was young.

Prior to yesterday I was never able to find out any information
on his band, but apparently some newspaper archives were recently
uploaded. There were announcements of two of his performances,
in Camden, NJ, in 1936. That's, like, an entire lifetime ago.

(Apologies if I am repeating this post, I tried once and it
didn't seem to go through.)

That is really cool. How did you find the newspapers?

My dad, light years ahead of his time, had a band name that
was uniquely googleable. So there were never any hits on
the name until now; two legitimate websites and one spam site now
have pieces of two newspaper articles. One site has to do with the
Jewish comminuty in Camden, the other also a historical site about the
Eagle's Hall there.

So what if you're repeating it?
This NG is just like real life. There are a lot of nice people and a lot of
assholes.

Do it like life and ignore the assholes.

I must admit, I'm unable to do so on a daily basis. Sometimes I just have
to kick somebody's balls off.

Condolences,

Sure. I just don't want to add to the google stream. It's
a two word band name, the first word is Penn, and the second
word is Troubadours. There should be four google hits total.

I lost my mom in '84 and my dad in '96. I know how bad it feels.

You just hugged Becca for making a sad face about my parents dying in the

Not that this has anything to do with the subject matter, it's just Christy.

P.S.--to take the thread back where it belongs: I miss Kili's posts. She was
such a fine example to the hotheaded.

Thanks luv. I'm encouraged a bit today actually. He seems to be acting
a bit better so I bought him some of his favorite fried chicken strips
from the store this morning and he ate 1/2 of one.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that he'll come out of this. I just
don't know yet, but the protein shakes are at least keeping him alive
for the time being, and he's willing to consume them.

I can do a better job than "ensure" and it takes me maybe 5 minutes to
use the blender to make something decent for him.

The trick is keeping up with pain control. He has 3 herniated disks and
a compression fracture.

She was nice even when you were annoying her while she tried to work.
Good trait! Thanks for sharing.

Oh, the poor man! Chronic pain can be very demoralizing. I can
see that that might play into his overall well-being.

Thanks.

He seems to be coming back to me somewhat. I have to give him his
prescriptions on time as he does not keep track. He's retired.

He also won't consider back surgery, so we have to make the best of this.

That's very sweet and I'm sure you're comforted to have it. I have a video
tape that I converted to DVD of a home video I took of my son at some
holiday the year before he died. I was following him around with the video
camera because I don't have one and I was operating my parents camera. He
was so funny when I'd stick the camera in his face. It comforts me to be
able to see him animated.
