There's a place near Colchester in the UK that serves up bacon "doorsteps".
Two, very, very thick slices of white bread sandwiching lightly cooked rashers of back bacon. Heaven!!! |

Heaven!!! > > Add an egg 'over easy' to the large slice off of a shepherds loaf of sourdough bread, toasted, with mayo & bacon and you get my breakfast to go sandwich ![]() I have yet to cut a hole in a slice of bread and cook an egg in the hole in the bread but i occasionally shove buttered slices of bread into a muffin tin, lightly toasted them in the oven, then break a couple of eggs into them, S & P, after adding some chopped ham and/or bacon, green onion, garlic, grated cheese etc. then bake in the oven till the egg whites are cooked. Remove from the muffin tins and serve in a small bowl. A much more substantial dish than i can make with my individual coquettes. -- JL |
