Christine is thinking of cooking a pork shoulder.

Cook Kiti's Kaluha Pork recipe. We had it for New Years, and I was
really surprised how good it was - and close to smoked all day in the
smoker.

I didn't know Kiti long, but I was very fond of her and her gentle,
loving nature.

For the record, it's "Kili" which is short for "Kilikini" which is Hawaiian
for Christina.
Yes she was a kind and gentle soul. Proof that opposites do attract.

The "I" is pronounced "ee" in Hawaiian BTW.

Here's a fun one. Try to get the pronunciation right, Israel
Kamakawiwo'ole.

I've always pronounced it "Fat Dead Hawaiian Guy" ‹ his rendering of
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" is beautiful.

Somehow I got a chuckle out of that. Actually I'm laughing as I type.

A tragic loss. He had a beautiful voice and seemed to have a gentle way
about him.

I can pronounce his name just fine, however, many folks can't. That's
why we mainly just call him "Brudda Iz." Here's a video of Budda Iz
playing a simple tune on the windward side of Oahu, where I live. At the
end, he yells "shark!" :-)

It was lovely. He was a giant guy with the voice of an angel. There's no
reason you should have heard of Brudda Iz, unless you were into Hawaiian
music, then there would be no way that you would not know and love him.
Here's Hawaii's expression of love for him:

Actually, many heard him for the first time if they watched the movie
"Finding Forrester" which featured his music at the end.

What a beautiful voice, it is a shame he died so young.
