These are gorgeous little butter cookies with whole anise seeds. It's
been way too long since I made them. They're best eaten at least a day after baking, so the butter flavor can do its magical thing. * Exported from MasterCook * Anise Seed Cookies Recipe By :Carol Peterson Serving Size : 0 Preparation Time :0:00 Categories : Cookies/Bars Family Recipes Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method -------- ------------ -------------------------------- 3/4 cup shortening 3/4 cup butter 2 cups sugar 2 large eggs 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 4 cups flour 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 4 teaspoons anise seed Combine ingredients in order given. Roll into balls and push down center with thumb. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - NOTES : We made small versions of these cookies to serve at my wedding reception a million years ago. Instead of just leaving a thumbprint in the cookies and calling it a day, we flavored thin pink and white frosting with anise extract and made frosting puddles in the depressions. A couple days later, the frosting was set. It looked really nice. -- Change "invalid" to JamesBond's agent number to reply. |

I'm gonna think about that. I wish we had a Fleet Farm in town here. Hoping to move to your neck of the woods within the next year sometime. ![]() Carol -- Change "invalid" to JamesBond's agent number to reply. |
