By the end of the month, we should be out of the evil clutches of our
slum lord! Found a "cozy" house on a dead end street, wooded lot, dry basement, includes all appliances (We can finally do laundry!). We can paint and wallpaper to our preferences, without any prior approval. They are going to install a handicap toilet. Everything except the (DRY) basement is on one floor. Much better for Crash and Ron (now fondly referred to as Humpty Dumpty). There are no dead animals in the basement at this place, either! They're putting in a brand new furnace this summer, so our gas and electric bills (especially since the house is cozy) should be much better than what they have been. We have way too much stuff. I think we'll be having a big yard sale. And we have to go from a king size bed to a full. That's gonna be tough. The bedrooms, especially, are very cozy. Not sure where our dressers are gonna go. I've gotta pack! A week and a half isn't much time. I feel so liberated! Carol -- Change "invalid" to JamesBond's agent number to reply. |

Too bad about getting shoe-horned into a full-sized bed from a king-sized. I'd rent public storage before I'd yard sale. That way you don't have the undue pressure of having to snap-decide what you have to sell so fast. Do a sale AFTER the move at some point when you're settled in, at your leisure. Best, Andy |

Good luck with your move, and congrats on finding a place you like.
You can probablly get rid of stuff that doesn't sell at your yard sale by posting it on Freecycle. |

No, but this guy has a good reputation. You should see all the work they're doing to get this place ready for us. The current furnace is one of those octopus things that takes up most of the basement. We'll have more storage! >> We have way too much stuff. Uffda, that's going >to be a tough one, Kiddo. Good luck! Do you believe *either* of us could climb into a top bunk? LOL! Thanks for everyone's good wishes. This is gonna be really cramped, compared to the spacious place we're living in now (it's enormous). But everything will WORK! I think our first load of stuff will go directly to a storage facility. Then we'll start moving the stuff we'll actually use at the new place. "It's not tiny, it's cozy. It's not tiny, it's cozy. It's not tiny, it's cozy." There's probably an HGTV show on doing just that. Carol -- for your cats, Might I suggest something that works great for us? Our utility room, a small separate room, adjoins the kitchen and then has a door to the garage. We removed the closet door in that room and the covered litter box sits in the closet quite well (we have one of those nautilus shaped Boda boxes which is a bit wide). I still have use of the shelves and the hangar bar. Voila! No litter boxes in rooms that guests might frequent, and nothing to trip over. Plus, we can just close the utility room when we want. Congrats on the move! Bob and I have been very concerned about you and Crash. --Lin |
