I know this stuff wouldn't be served within 700 miles of Austin.
Heck, we've never even heard of it. http://www.hormelfoodservice.com/bra...tin-blues.aspx What, no Rice-a-Roni on the menus in San Francisco? Still Wondering was California-Style Pizza is? So are they. Just another example of a food named after a town that would disown it. Dozens of other examples... -sw |

The website also said this: "Hot Link: This Kielbasa-style, natural casing, all-pork sausage is hardwood smoked with a touch of hot & spicy flavor from three kinds of pepper – black, red and cayenne. It’s fully prepared, so just add your signature sauce." I guess that the unspecified "red" must be a "pepper" that is not cayenne. Red peppercorns? Ripe jalapeno? > > -sw --Bryan http://www.flickr.com/photos/15522299@N08/?saved=1 |

I've had them in Canada, the UK and possibly even in Vienna. A collegue from Sinagpore assures me they don't exist in Sinapore. Oh, and of course the perenially discussed Canadian Bacon. We don't have it here. John Kane Kingston ON Canada |

I've also heard that it isn't true: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacon#Canada [read both the Canada and US entries, they are complementary] The story is that pig ranchers in Canada wanted to sell pork in the US. The US pig ranchers didn't want the competition, so they lobbied for trade restrictions. The trade restrictions only covered fresh pork, so the Canadians took the pork loin, cured it and called it "bacon". There were no trade restrictions on bacon. Of course, it bears no relation to traditional bacon, so it is called "Canadian bacon". -- Dan Abel Petaluma, California USA |
