Another "cherry" item. Stone Ridge Creamery Cheery Bordeaux chip ice
cream. The cherry flavor was marachino.

We also bought some raspberry chip, but have yet to open it.

Make this Cherry No. 3 ... Bought the Black Cherry Torani Sugar-Free
Syrup. Now I know what they use to flavor NyQuil. The other Torani
Sugar-Frees have been really good, but the black cherry was yucky.

Of course, right now I'm spoiled to real cherry flavor as we've been
getting our first Bing cherries of the season this week. Their pretty
good. Bob looks forward to the Ranier cherries -- it shouldn't be too
long before we see those as well.

Ice cream sandwiches made with neopolitan ice cream. The strawberry
part was awful and it's flavor permeated the whole thing.

Seems to be a "Faux berry" flavoring trend developing here...

The Almond, and Coconut. They are okay. You don't need much! Bob was
thinking of some summer drinks/coolers, and I was looking for ways to
curb the calories hoping these might be good substitutes.

I've got a Raspberry that I haven't opened yet. I see they have Almond
Roca and an Irish Toffee, too. Might be worth a try in my morning coffee!

The almond is amazing in steamed milk! I also like the raspberry -
makes a great Italian Soda!

To me, Cherry Coke tastes like Dr. Pepper.

I avoid soft drinks for the most part tho' except for the occasional
club soda.

What have I tried that did not measure up?

Even the sugared Toranis are made with HFCS and artificial flavor.
Looks for the Zergut brand made with two ingredients - fruit and
sugar.

I'll never understand why people will pay a premium for a standard
product which has been additionally "flavored." Add your own lime to
your beer. Use a flavored syrup in your Coke. Try adding vanilla
extract to your sweetened coffee.

Both out sweet cherries and pie cherries are still pea sized. The
apricots are about a half inch and the peaches almost an inch across.

We just planted a Royal Ann and a Ranier. No idea how they'll do in
St. Louis, but hey, if they fail they'll make great grilling wood.

Kashi's Mayan Harvest Bake. It was NOTHING like the photo on the
box, rather it was kind-of a nasty gluey mass when nuked. The
ingredients were kind-of interesting and healthful, which is why I
tried it.

I really like Da Vinci sugar-free syrups. Some have gotten bad
reviews, so if you decide to get any, you might want to check that
out first.

All I know is that the ones I've tried were NOT worth what they are
charging. There are meats the same price (or less) that taste better.

Chocolate or vanilla cokes were always better than cherry. A chocolate
limeade is the very best though. Sonic will make one for you.

It's been years since I've had decent ice cream with cherry flavouring.
Maybe cherries just don't freeze well in that context.

Aha...forgot about chocolate Coke. That we can make easily enough. Don't
like the vanilla sort. Chocolate and lime just don't do it for me,
although limeade straight up is nice.

I made a panna cotta and thought I would flavour with some cherry juice
concentrate. I wasted a lot of milk and cream. It curdled instantly.

Yes that would intensify the flavour wouldn't it? Not concerned about
the cherries getting iced up but rather the lack of flavour most fruits
have when frozen.

Love grenadine syrup when we can get the real thing (made from
pomegranates and red currants). Surprised that it would go into 'cherry
Coke' as it tastes nothing like cherry syrup, to me at any rate.

Don't know if we have such a thing around here...this place is so
suburban sometimes LOL. When it's reduced price we can get real cherry
syrup from eithes Germany or Austria at the German butcher/deli. But
that doesn't happen often

Anchovy danish!! Scott and I used to joke about making an anchovy
danish roll while we were rolling up the danish rolls first thing in
the AM (late night to the rest of you!) Third shift work breeds some
very weird humor!

That reminds me of "Fish Story."

When we lived in Tampa, in the early 1990s, I had this awful job where
I worked 80 hours a week running an overnight cleaning crew doing
restaurants. My crew would show up, and I'd have the key and the
alarm code.. We'd do the floors and restrooms and be on our way to the
next place. This one restaurant was called Shell's. It was a seafood
joint. It was so disgusting that one of my guys had to run to the
restroom to vomit because of the stench of decomposed seafood. I
won't go into more detail right now.

Janitors who are working in the middle of the night are often in a
state of temporary derangement, especially if the task is gross. I
was back in the kitchen, vacuuming up scrubbing solution off the floor
when the manager showed up. Apparently, something about the alarm was
amiss. Maybe they'd changed to code w/o letting my boss know, I'm not
certain anymore. Anyway, when he arrived, I was singing at the top of
my operatic tenor voice, over and over again, the same little ditty.
I have a very loud voice, and enuciate very clearly. I'm sure that he
had to have heard the sequence several times on his way in. It was
sung to the tune of Love Story, and afterwars, telling this tale, I
referred to it as Fish Story:

Where do I begin
To tell the story of how gross a place can be?
Of rotting animals that once lived in the sea.
I wouldn't eat here even if the food was free.

This guy looked like a puppy who had been scolded for peeing on the
carpet. I had insulted his pride and joy. Before leaving, he offered
a free meal to everyone on my crew (I think there were 3 or 4 of us
there). Everyone told him that after being in their kitchen, there's
no way they'd eat there. After he left, they demanded that I call the
owner of the cleaning company and insist that they drop that account.
They threatened to quit otherwise. We only had to clean that place
one more night.

It's a fun story to tell newbies on backcountry camping trips. Like I
said, I have a very large voice, and I sing it very loud.
