Went to the beautiful museum there to see the Tiffany lamp exhibit. Congrats, Ed. I can say I knew you when? Or were you already the mayor back in 2001? I was tempted to look them up the next time I'm out that way but then I saw on their menu that they serve Mrs. T's pierogi. Yuck! Those things are lousy. I used to eat them when I first moved to Calif. and didn't have a good source of pierogi. Believe me, you have to be desperate to eat them. Once I learned to make my own pierogi I naturally never touched them again. Anyway, it makes the hot dogs suspect, imo. If they would serve a lousy pierog they probably serve a lousy hotdog. Although, I have to commend them on serving Coke rather than the evil Pepsi, the anti-Coke! So maybe they have good taste after all. Maybe I will give the hotdogs a shake. Pierogies are just a side dish. When you're in the area, eat at the Brass Rail. Well worth it. Great food and excellent cheesesteaks. I referred to it in my reply to Andy. All I have been able to lay hands on are lawn signs, a bit large for mailing purposes. I'm looking for pens, pencils, buttons, etc. Don't worry Ed, I'm still looking ![]() -ginny |

Show. They were really pushy with the 'we're the best hot dog in the entire viewing area for Channel 10. Fortunately, the on-air face wouldn't diss any of the other hot dog vendors whom he had visited and the Yocco's people were really trying to get him to say theirs was the best. I, for one am glad he didn't. They say the secret is in their sauce and steamed buns. Most decent vendors, including those with a pushcart on the Philly sidewalk steam their buns, and as for their sauce......don't even go there. I hate and despise Yocco's hot dogs. The dogs are deep fried and the 'sauce' if you can call it that resembles the canned 'hot dog sauce' you get in the grocery store but add another 2"-3" of standing grease on top. I think they fry the dogs and drip the grease over it and call it sauce. I don't think Yocco's serves ANYTHING that doesn't come out of the deep fat fryer and I'm not too sure that they don't reserve the 'historical' (in that this is the grease we made our first hot dog in) grease and keep re-using it. The first site is on 19th street across from Cedar Beach in Allentown, the second is on Chestnut Street in Emmaus.........I wouldn't go in the Emmaus one on a bet, as it is too filthy for words the time I went there. If you do happen to come by the Allentown area, try the Brass Rail. They have a good reputation and decent food.......my only complaint is they claim to have 'invented' the cheesesteak, but the cheesesteak pre-dates them. Oh well. -ginny from Coopersburg, between Quakertown and Allentown, PA |

Some folks love 'em; I wouldn't go out of my way for them, though. Yoccos has a following. Respect their choice. I posted information on the Brass Rail close by in another message. We lived in Alton Park, near the restaurant on Lehigh Street. I know Cooperburg pretty well. I ate breakfast at the diner on 309 many times. There's s a small group of shops at Passer Road - there is a bar/grill there, but can't recall the name (always changing). I had an office in the the complex in the early 1980s when I prepared income tax forms. -- mad |

Passer and 309 isn't much anymore. Only the Peppercorn Pub remains. The Center Valley Post Office is at 378 and Preston Lane now, and the Coopersburg PO is at Station and 4th Streets in Coopersburg. We've been here for approximately 12 years. -ginny |

You're being contentious, Michael! You don't have a photo - you don't know what it looks like. The spaghetti comes in its own dish, but most folks empty it by the side or over the veal. Yeah, it's a patty and it's deep fried. But it's damn good and a good price. Have it with a Yuengling's lager on tap. (Hitler liked his Bavarian wurst, too) Cheers! -- mad |
