Default Mice like avocados!

Mice like avocados!

One chewed through the netting and ate up a a large marble sized hunk of
avocado. This was the second time in about five years.

Why couldn't it walk onto the mousetrap that was right there?!? Maybe I
should add a bit to the baitless trap.

So I lost an avo. I put the others in the bread box drawer AFTER making a
green death tuna salad sandwich with potato chips and a tall glass of ice
cold milk. I will not be outdone by some slick country mouse!!!

Interesting. My squirrels and raccoons don't seem to like
vegetable matter. I might have been tempted to extrapolate tio mice.

last I checked peanuts and all nuts are vegetable matter.. so is bread.
Mice will eat avocado because of it's high fat content. And I always
thought Andy had cats... obviously not mousers... no mouse would live long
enough to take two breaths in my kitchen.

Point taken. How about greenery? That doesn't cover it, but I am
out of time tonight.

Probably not, but I'll bet you get some from the fields around you that get
brought home as 'presents' from some of your cats.

Nope, my cats never go out. But ever so often they'll gift me a corpse from
the basement.

I wish I still had the picture. Mom's cat got out. He met a deer. Just the
look of each animal was priceless-about 6 inches apart-looking at each other
like 'WTF are you?'

I have a friend who owns a house somewhere in California near some
avocado
groves. He says the rats in his neighborhood are fat and sleek.

The more I think about it, the better I like living somewhere that has
a good,
hard winter.

Try bacon rind for mousetrap bait. Always worked for mom.

Speaking of avocados, I cut three avocados open last night and all three
avocados were the same size. The pits in two of them were the size of
olives, yet the pit in the 3rd one was so large, there was barely any
avocado left. Does this only happen to me? How can I avoid choosing
the largely-pitted avocados?

Becca,

Ain't that the pits!!!

Weigh them. Large pits would weigh noticeably more. Walk them to the deli
department's digital scale.

I buy a sack of four so I can't weigh each separately . I've never had (I
can't really remember) that problem.

Best,

Andy

Thanks Andy. Where I live, they have scales in the produce department
(not digital though), so I will weigh them next time. Thanks for the tip.

So do some cats! Or least ours did. But ours were hungry beasts and
would devour an entire fish (except for the scales and fins). When I'd
come back from fishing off the rocks I'd throw them one of the smaller
fish I'd caught and later find them sitting on the lawn crunching away
on what was left of the skull. Then they also liked mice ... and rats
.... and rabbits ... and cheese. They were well fed, but not fat. Wish
I could say the same for me.

Baitless? Oh, man... that's just asking for trouble. When I had a
mouse infestation, I used every bait in the book. My mice didn't like
peanut butter, they liked Jarlsberg cheese... just like me. LOL

If I should run out, check your traps
