Default Mmmm! My Banana Bread 2.0 smells wonderful!

I've got 2 loaves of banana bread in the oven, to which I've added
cinnamon, nutmeg, cherries, plums, almonds, pecans, and this time a
shot of black strap molasses!

It smells WONDERFUL in my house right now! :-)

Banana Bread: Makes 2 loaf pans.

dry mix:
3 1/2 cup flour
4 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1tsp-1tbs cinnamon
1tsp-1tbs nutmeg

hold.

Cream:

1 1/3 sugar
1 1/3 stick butter (room temp)

Add and mix:

3 eggs
3-4 bananas

Mix in dry ingredients, then fold in any small pieces of fruit and/or
nuts.

Bake at 350F for an hour or so, or until a clean dry toothpick comes
back clean!

.....<grumble, mumble> oh shut up...

Yes, I am envious. We make banana bread with some frequency but I'm
not allowed to use any kind of nuts. There's only one person in the
house that likes nuts. LOVES nuts.

The wife's normal breakfast is an apple spread with crunchy peanut
butter. But she can't stand peanuts nor any others. I'm sure it
makes sense...

Elder daughter makes a PB&J by smearing a quarter-teaspoon of jam
paper-thin over one slice of bread, then barely coloring another with
a film of peanut butter. She'd prefer a peanut-butter spray, I
suspect.

I have hope for younger daughter, who slathers the peanut butter on
the bread, and will eat ice cream or cereal with nuts in it as long as
the nuts aren't terribly noticeable.

Best -- Terry
....who is now seriously thinking about banana bread with black
walnuts... topped with butter-pecan ice cream... mmmmmm...

Mmmmm! Black walnuts!! Butter-pecan ice cream! I had a Ted Drewes
(http://www.teddrewes.com/Drewes.asp) with added black walnuts a week
or two ago, and it was scrumptious! They had a warning sign advising
people of the strong flavor of black walnuts, and that's all it took
to get ME to get some!

Yeah, kids (and picky people) are funny about textures. I can remember
wishing my mother would leave the pecans out of chocolate chip
cookies, but now I LOVE pecans in them, and many other things too.

I still remember being 4 years old and cracking black walnuts with a
rock on a concrete slab. I used to love those things. My favorite
nuts are hickories.

It's out of the oven, out of the pan, and is cooling now.

Eating some curried chicken, carrots and sweet rice right now!
Mmmmmm! :-)
