Hello,
I am sorry to hear about your father.
At 5:30 pm today, my Father also lost his battle with cancer. I
understand how you feel. It has only been a few months since my dad
was diagnosed with Lung cancer, and today we had to tell him that the
medice and oxygen will no longer make him any better and that as he
had asked before he got sick, we took him off of the machines tha were
only prolonging his life, and confining him to a hospital bed with no
chance of recovery or going home again. He nodded and said his good
byes as we said good bye to him... This is the worst day of my life,
I am 37 years old, my dad was 62.

Shawn - It may not help at this moment, and as sad as you no doubt are
(both my parents have passed), you did have the good luck of being able
to say good-bye. Thats something I had always wished I had. I know,
small comfort right now. But I think you will appreciate that more later on.

You have my sympathy. It's never easy to lose one you love.

My heart breaks for both of you. I'll keep you and your families in my

Shawn, I'm so sorry. It just so sucks and it hurts. My dad, too, was only
diagnosed in January of this year with his cancer. It is a quick killer
sometimes, and I guess that's a blessing rather than prolong it for years.
That doesn't make it easier. My dad was 71. My dad also asked not to be on
life support and had a DNR.

Cheryl, I am so sorry to learn of your dad's passing. Losing one's parents
is certainly one of the hardest things to go through in our life. Cancer is
such an insidious disease, and I know it's easy to say, but at least his
suffering is at an end. The burden is now left with you and your family to
recover, and I wish you the easiest passage through that.

That's brutal. Even though you were following his wishes, it's got to
be a rough day. I'm sorry for your loss.

Okay ... throwing this out here because I'm a bit confused. Has "Shawn"
posted under another nym that I've missed, because if you check the
profile the first time s/he has posted to this group (or anywhere for
that matter) was yesterday. I'm certainly not trying to minimize what
has happened to this poster (death sucks) but I find it rather strange
that the only time this person has posted to this group involves death.
Is s/he trolling groups looking for someone that has shared their
experience?

Does this strike anyone else as being odd?

Condolences to our Cheryl and this new poster, Shawn.

No. I am thinking (perhaps in error) that Shawn was
lurking/reading and couldn't stay silent on this topic.
