I see in Wiki that nitinol wire is used in stents. That's a practical use. Thanks in part to your Dad, my husband didn't have to go through major surgery last year. ![]() -- I love cooking with wine. Is that him in the video?? -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia "As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. That's not him, but just one of the YouTube videos I found about nitinol. Funny but today after seeing that video I didn't realize the wire was reactive to heat because the little plaque he was given when he retired had the wire strung across two nodes connected to a button that I guess (now) heated it up. Me and my sister applied heat to it and it returned to the twisted word "nitinol" even though the wire was broken in the middle. |

Both my parents worked on the Apollo projects and some of dads antennae he designed are on the Voyager probes, so I know how you feel. Mom did all of the circuit testing for the Apollo 13 lunar lander. -- Peace! Om Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain. -- Anon. Subscribe: |
