Default Pleasant Sunday

Spent yesterday preparing food for grilling in marinade.

Turkey, chicken, shrimp and mushrooms went into a lemon/lime, dill weed,
ginger and garlic marinade with a little pepper, and beef (chuck) chunks
went into a teryaki, ginger and garlic marinade overnight in the 'frige.
I also sauteed some onions to add back to the beef in a little olive oil
and salt free lemon pepper.
I skewered the beef, mushrooms and shrimp.

My Sister and her family came over today, (sis, BIL and the two nephews)
and she brought more mushroom and onions and some squash for grilling.
And yes, I do have a non-stick grilling thingy for my BBQ grill. :-)

Everything went over well, and she also brought a nice cantaloupe that I
prepared. It got wiped out by the boys. The nephews both have a passion
for melon!

Right now we are noshing on leftovers (sorry, no pics, I've been too
busy) and watching the most recent Harry Potter movie...

Sounds like fun. Today we had a big lunch, pork steaks, collard greens,
potato salad and fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden. I took
pictures of the potatoes, I will have to post them.

Yesterday, my sister and I, plus our husbands, spent the day with Mom.
We had roasted chicken, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes, turnip
greens, pinto beans, cantaloupe, tomatoes, cucumbers, pineapple upside
down cake and coconut cake. Mom talked about her favorite horse when she
grew up, plus she told some stories about her brothers. She looks great
for an 80-yr old. One of my nephews separated from his wife, so he
moved in with Mom. He is a Dallas Cowboys fan, but his bathroom came
decorated with a UT shower curtain and two UT bath mats. lol

You guys are making me jealous. I love variety. Especially when grilling.

Since I'm only cooking for me at the moment, the variety thing is sort
of out the window :-(

Sounds like you had a pleasant Sunday too. :-)

Spending time with family is always a good thing imho.

Why? :-)
All you have to do is prepare small portions of "variety", or just
invite some friends over. Weekend guests generally appreciate a good
cook like you!
