Yes!

And hats off to...

Molson Ale!

And to my cousin, the piano teacher/jazz pianist in Montreal.

And to the hostel security guard in old city Quebec for the beers.

And to Shwandagoosee (private fishing lodge/island) for all the rainbow and
grey trout.

And to McGill University for about too much fun than one should have. I
KNOW NOTHING!!!

And for Expo 67. Nothing like it since, imho!

And for your share of Niagra Falls.

And for being great neighbors.

And Molson ales to go before I sleep,
And Molson ales to go before I sleep.

In honor of your proclivity for Molson ales, ad infinitum, ad nauseum, may I
also point out, that according to the calendar my 'lovely' daughter bought
me for Christmas .....the Poo for Today is the Ring of Fire, also referred
to as Acid Poo, Hooter's Souvenirs, Curry in a Hurry, Fire in the Hole,
Tabasco Turd or Feeling the Burn. May this be you fate if all you think of
when you think Canada is beer! What are you, one of the McKenzie brothers?

Uhm...

A distant memory of McGill University dormitory bathtubs full of ice and
beer?

Thanks ginny. In about an hour we will go down the street to watch the
town's little parade and then head over to the park to listen to music,
get a piece of cake. There is a fireworks show scheduled for tonight,
but it is likely to get cancelled because it is supposed to rain, like
it has for the last few days and like it is supposed to for the next two
days :-(

Promises promises...it rains a bit, then turns into a steam bath...however,
the prediction is that the temp will drop to around 20C later on, which I
would very much like to see.

Same sentiments, but without calling y'all "Canucks" I've heard that
some Canadians don't like it.

It is usually associated with derogatory terms used by the British

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canuck

and has also been used by dexter detractors to the south of us, as in
"Soviet Canuckistan" to suggest a link that in fact does not and never
did exist between Canada and the Soviet Union beyond polite diplomacy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_...#United_States

We usually think it more politic to ignore the ignorant. but one in a
while something will prick them to the quick...the Greg Gutfeld less than
informed comment on the Canadian military being a case in point.

Canuck nowadays describes, within Canada, an English-speaking Canadian.
French-Canadians will respond to "canayen" but not "Canuck" or
necessarily "Canadien" depending of course on their position with respect
to Québec independence. This is odd in a way because until fairly
recently (roundabout 1931), French-Canadians were the only ones who
called themselves "Canadiens" in Canada. The English preferred the term
"British subject". After that, they took it and now they can keep it,
according to my cousin Stéphane :-)

The Random House Dictionary notes that: "The term Canuck is first
recorded about 1835 as an Americanism, originally referring specifically
to a French Canadian. This was probably the original meaning, though in
Canada and other countries, "Canuck" refers to a Canadian."

I went to get my birth certificate across the river in Québec yesterday
and the person at the counter referred to her colleagues as "citoyens"
(citizens). I thought that was a proper way to refer to a person,
regardless of their views.

It was surprisingly sunny for the town's parade and party in the park
but the clouds are rolling in. We were just about to go out to the patio
for a drink and it started to rain. :-(

We had the same thing, rained twice briefly with bright sun before, in
between and after. Didn't stop the Snowbirds.

Around here, fireworks are likely to be canceled if it *hasn't* rained!

At any rate, I hope your celebration is a happy one.

You mean you prefer days where you slut yourself on the corner whether
you get any crack/money or not.
