Hard boiled egg on a stick? Salad on a stick? LOL!

Probably the healthiest Iowa State Fair stick foods.

Geez...

I was laughing at the egg, too. Think I would stick to a corn dog and
an ear of corn!

Merryb,

Candied apples were my favorite vs. caramel apples.

Best,

How could you choose between a candied apple and a caramel apple? I
would have to sample them both before I could make a choice. <wink, wink>

Becca,

It was probably color appeal more than anything.

SO... candied in our left hands, caramel in our right.

It's caramel apple (hands down) for me. With or without nuts is my
big decision.

I love cooking with wine.
Sometimes I even put it in the food.

You know how to show a gal a good time, Andy. :-P

On this day in history in 1872, the dougnut cutter was patented by John
Blondel from Thomaston, Maine. After reading that, I have been in the
mood for a donut all day. Not that I want a donut, I just like to
recognize history. <anybody buying that story?>

No wonder deforestation is a problem in the world!

I must say I have never heard of at least three of these things

Chocolate-covered peanut rounds
Deep-fried Ho-Ho
Dutch letters

If I recall correctly, a Ho-Ho is a small chocolate cake with cream
(or vegetable shortening, more accurately) filling, like a Hostess
cupcake. I believe it's dipped in a chocolate glaze.

You'd have to batter it to deep fry it.

Nobody goes to a state fair to eat healthy food. Get real.

Dutch Letters are well known in some communities in Iowa - Pella,
famous for its tulip time and wooden shoes, is famous for Dutch
Letters (pastries). You haven't lived until you've had some.

Yup, just another deep fried item similar to a battered and deep-fried
Twinkie.

I always have some key limes and found some chocolate bark so I thought
I'd try to see if I could make chocolate covered key lime rounds on a stick.

First, peeling a key lime is not easy. Even with a sharp paring knife
and an as seen on TV Titan peeler. I managed to peel the little lime and
skewer it.

I melted the bark in the microwave and dunked the lime on a stick then I
let it harden. It looked very cute.

Eating it was not fun. What I managed to do was squish it with my teeth
and some chocolate-flavored lime juice squirted out.

The combination of the tart limes and chocolate is still intriguing, but
the process needs some direction.

Go to a Sonic. Get a chocolate limeade. Problem solved.
