Default How to drink beer.

How to drink beer.

In an ice cold glass mug, out of a bottle, out of a can?

My brother had a freezer devoted entirely to glass beer mugs. 100 or so.
The "hands off" approach was the way to drink beer, by keeping your hand
off the container the beer stayed cooler longer, rather than it would if
you wrapped your hand around a can.

A can or bottle should be drank a foam holder, again to keep your hand/temp
off the beer.

When out on the town, drink bottled beers. Ever gotten a fresh glass of
beer with lipstick on the rim? I did. And that probably ain't all that gets
passed around! Plastic cups if you want tapped beer.

Cans are OK in a pinch. Bottles are better and will break into a lot more
pieces when you throw it. Shooting beer from a can is the can's only saving
grace. Make a hole in the bottom, with a can opener or something, put it to
your mouth then pop the top. Guzzle as fast as you can. Spillage is
considered bad form.

If you're going to put your mouth to it, always wipe the surface of a can's
top with a tissue or paper towel before opening. You'd be amazed at the rat
turd that can collect there!

The practice of getting hosed, guzzling from a keg hose for as long as
possible, is an acceptable practice.

And finally, from personal experience, never assume the cap on a bottle of
beer is twist-off. Keep a church key on your keychain just in cases.

If you're drinking garbage beer like Bud Light (you) or Old Milwaukee
Light (me), I wouldn't think that the can would last long enough to
get warm. Still, I don't keep it in my hand between drinks.
Good tasting beer doesn't need to be ice cold.

Bryan,

Until about year 2002, Pennsylvania was a blue state which meant no sale of
alcohol on Sunday!

The problems that presented are varied.

If you hosted a Sunday football game, you had to get your kegs on Saturday.

Then, you had to have enough ice (LOTS of ice) to keep it cold for Sunday.
And someone to replace the ice as it melted.

And then, you had kegs of ice cold beer sitting around on Saturday, which
caused a really really early pre-game party!

In Kalifornia I could fall out of bed at 10:00 AM on Sunday and have beer
AND football for breakfast. God, I miss the good ol' days!

Getting from the sofa to fetch another beer and returning safely to sofa IS
exercise.

The conspiracy theorists claiming NASA puts beer into squeeze tubes are
wrong. Drinking and driving at 17,000 mph IS frowned upon.

Rinse out empty cans and bottles for recycling so they don't stink up the
place.

Drinking beer while peeing is poetry in motion.

If you're out of beer, you're disqualified!

Room temperature mug with slightly colder beer.

I really dislike cold beer. As far as I can see the only reason for
violently refrigerating beer is so the consumer does not realise that
the beer has no taste.

Mug is a lot better IMHO but if a mug is not available ....
, out of a can?
Barbaric but if no mug well ....

The most infuriating part of that whole post, especially the parts I
quoted, is that I'm a pot smoker, and that's illegal, while beer drinkers
can party like this... And what's usually found during domestic
disturbances? Alcohol.

Or drink the one you have until it doesn't taste good anymore, then pour
it down the drain and get a fresh one.

I was gifted a homegrown pot cigar in Australia where it's legal, by my
boss' brother (a farmer). Lasted me for a week and was easy to carry
around. Did it's job better than I can remember! @)

Try this sometime...

Take a cup of water and two tablespoons of butter and cook until butter
melts. Add a packed handful of fresh marijuana leaves and simmer for 10
minutes, stirring often. Squeeze out the juice from the leaves and throw them
away. Add a packet of instant oatmeal till done.

Enjoy at 9am, wake up at 5pm! Trust me.

Pot is too expensive here to play with it like that. That it's still
illegal is a tragedy. Trust me on that.

Just put it in the fridge and get a fresh one. After a couple, you
won't be so picky and can finish off the first one. HTH

As uninspiring as some of your old breakfast posts were, this one is a
hoot. Only one who has drunken cheap canned beer pretty quickly in an
effort to get tipsy could relate.

Or to kill bad flavor as much as possible!

Budweiser has a particularly bad flavor I hate. But the colder it is,
the less I notice it. I only drink bad beer if I'm desperate
or...well, that's the only reason actually. If I have no other option.
If I have a better tasting option, I will always take that. (I try
really hard never to not have a better option too!)

Leaves? Marijuana hasn't come in leaf form for a couple decades.

Well, maybe yours does.

You forgot one other factor, if someone gives you said beer free. When
that happens, I don't complain.
