About the "telemarkers" thread.

I will never cease posting just one more post to that insipid thread,
so long as ANYONE except me posts to it! Think about it! That means
that EVERYONE must let it die, and EVERYONE must not post to it
anymore. Of course this is never going to happen, so this thread will
grow and grow and grow...because people will just NOT let it die!

So I am doing the exact same irritating thing all others are doing,
collectively. And unless and UNTIL they ALL cease, the "telemarketing"
thread will never die!

PS: my name is pronounced Coo'-thee. The long 'e' on the end is from
my German heritage. Many other German names ending with 'e' also share
this pronounciation, such as Goede, Witte, and I can't for the life of
me figure out why they are not pronounced "PorschEE's! ;-)

So long, and thanks for the fish! :-)

Irritating isn't it?

That's what I'm trying to explicate. And no, I'm a not an idiot, and
neither are you.

I am guessing you are maybe 10 years old, no? The old "it's not my fault,
they made me do it" defence is usually abandoned around the onset of
puberty. It is akin to the standard "I'm going to hold my breath until I
get what I want" attention ploy of pre-schoolers.

Nice to see someone so young participating in Newsgroups.

Ahhhh. Being of German descent myself, I certainly understand your inherent
need for control... and shake my head at your feeble need and attempt to
control the actions of complete strangers, no matter how harmless and
inconsequential those actions may be.

Carry on Mien Herr....

Right. I know plenty of 40-60 year-olds that use that defense, let
alone teenangsters of varying ages and sexes. It's more commonly used
than you seem to think.

Where did I ever claim it was "not my fault"? No, no, I'm the WORST at
this, and I freely admit it too.

And I'm 49.

I'm actually hoping by my setting such a BAD example, that "a clue"
will be planted and take root in the brains of those who, like I do,
post ad infinitum mindless off topic posts to any Internet forum.

Note too, I never respond in any cogent way to anyone or anything in
this insipid "telemarketing" thread, but I do here!

But what is your point? You haven't explained anything except that you
are commanding everyone to obey you to (I guess) cure whatever it is you
imagined is bothering you. Ordering folks around usually doesn't produce
a good result especially when the person issuing the order has no
authority and can't explain themselves. Perhaps you can carefully
explain what it is you imagine is bothering you so much that you
actually needed to start another thread that says nothing about your
silly behavior. Then you can expand on your imagined authority.

Since you obviously have no will power maybe you can get someone to help
you click the "ignore this thread button"?

No, I am not "ordering" anyone to do or not do anything. I am URGING
people not to post additional off topic posts to the "telemarketers"
thread by demonstrating and perpetuating the very acts I am decrying,
ad infinitum!

Do what you will, I grant every Usenet the same autonomy I enjoy and
exercise freely. I am not being vile, obscene or particularly nasty to
anyONE, just carrying on in the way I hope to demonstrate is not
particularly pleasing to all Usenet users.

I really don't care if you KF me or not. I think people who use
killfiles are incapable of self-control and/or self-censorship. Add me
to your killfile and it's your loss, not mine.

How do you feel about all the ninnies who post their off topic drivel
in the "telemarkering" thread?

It's not like that thread is cross posted either!! Everyone who posts
to it is from the rec.food.cooking newsgroup! Everyone!

That thread will fade into oblivion when it is time for it to do so. Just
like every other thread ever posted. Nothing you do or say will change
that. Your juvenile attempt to "have it your way" accomplishes just one
thing; to destroy whatever credibility you may have had here, before you
decided to throw your tantrum. I know you could care less about what I or
anyone else thinks about you here in this NG; and nobody really cares that
you disagree with the longevity of that thread. That's the way of Usenet.
But, you playing "Tallyman" is useless. Netkops come and netkops go. Now,
go "bake" some special beans for Sunday's breakfast. It's a much better use
of your time.

Nobody feels nearly so bad about them as they do you.
Haven't you noticed that not one person supports
what you're doing? You're a total asshole.

Which just goes to show that sometimes this community
chooses to discuss stuff other than food. Nothing more.

Normally, I don't start OT threads here. I don't
remember ever having started one here. But just
to spite you, I'll start one right now.

yet all you've accomplished is getting yourself killfiled by many, and
making yourself look like a major ass.
When if you'd instead posted ON topic discussion or replies, you might
have steered the thread to a more pleasing direction.
You have become nothing more than a nuisance and have lost all
credibility. You've become nothing more than Andy.

NO. It just means he'll be kill filed by a lot of people, that's all.
Unfortunately, that means when he makes a sane post in another thread
the people who have him kill filed won't see it.

Frankly, I don't see what loss there would be. Repeated counts of posts
in a ONE off-topic thread? You going to move to all the rest and start
counting there?

Whether the large number of off-topic threads is a good thing or not is
immaterial. It's the culture here. You won't change a thing with what
you're doing, just irritate a lot of people to no end. You'll be
classed as another nutjob like Andy or Bobo or Sheldon.

If that's what you want, I can't stop you.

Why don't you use your filters to remove that thread from your
newsreader? You mentioned something to me about lack of discipline.
That's what this seems like to me, in your case.

There's a bug in Outlook Express that doesn't add quote markers to
replies to Google Groups posts. He can fix it with OE Quotefix or use
some other means of indicating quoted material, of course.

I see now that you are using Google Groups. While that doesn't come
with filtering built-in, there are some add-on browser plugins that
supposedly help.

Until Friday I was paying by the minute for connection and it was costing me
about 100 euro a week. Send me 20 euro and I will consider overlooking the
extra time it took to download your stupid posts.

Maybe you can't wrap your head around it because this is an electronic
version of a meeting. There certainly can be and there are credible
people here. Unfortunately there are people like say you and Shelden who
think it is a great opportunity to act out their childish fantasies or
something and behave like they would never do if facing another person
or a group.

Fortunately for me, I modified my default settings for my killfile, so
unless I change them at the time I put somebody in my killfile (like I
