Default EATING sea scallops

I have no idea what their reproductive attributes are, but ...

Last night I had a half-dozen rrrreally big ones, which I rinsed, dipped in
a flour and curry powder mix (heavy on the curry), fried quickly to a
medium-dark brown, and sprinkled with lime juice. Those guys, and a chunk of
iceberg with my own Russian dressing made a mighty tasty dinner.

And I didn't care what sex. if any, they were!

I'm one of those people who think sea scallops should never be overwhelmed
by something like curry powder. They have a wonderful naturally sweet
taste. They don't even need salt or pepper. Pan fried in a mixture of
butter and a neutral oil (like canola) until just opaque, they're fabulous.
And dammit, I forgot to buy some when I was at the store yesterday!

Sounds very nice, I saved this simple recipe. I usually use bay scallops but
I might try sea scallops again. I love those with fresh garlic, unbreaded,
sauteed and servefd over brown basmati and wild rice with steamed snow peas.
I will try your way next.

Just try them with butter and just a splash of dry white wine and a
little cream as the liquid reduces I add a hint (tiny amount of lime or
pineapple juice)

Each to his (or her) own. But scallops have such a beautiful, subtle
taste that I wouldn't dream of eating them that way.

Personally, I like them poached gently in white wine or a white wine
sauce and served with Jasmine rice and baby spinach or some wilted bok
choy, washed down with a bottle of good New Zealand pinot gris.
