Excellent point. I checked my library ( a large metropolitan one), and
there are hundreds of holds on the books which dealt with this movie.

It was pretty fabulous. There were some nuances about Julia's life
that I didn't know - I think the Julie angle was well done, but also
pretty accurate about her motives and the reaction from the real
Julia. Stanley Tucci was marvelous.

Go see it - it's worth the money.

They never met.

Julia had a somewhat adverse reaction to what she heard about Julie's
blog. Julie claimed that Julia was her hero, and she idolized her,
but there are some undercurrents that show Julie wasn't quite so pure
as she wanted people to believe. I think Amy Adams probably protrayed
her in a more pleasant light than she deserved, but I've gotten that
impression from some reviews.

I thought the movie was pretty fab.

Stanley Tucci is marvelous in EVERY film he's in. He's a huge foodie
too! Food movies, cookbooks...everything!
Maybe time to get "The Big Night" from Netflix again... so happy, so
sad, so good!

that would have been a gas. sheldon would have undoubtedly called her a
liar at some point.

Thank Barb's Alex. Can you imagine the replies she'd get from

Shall we assume that tomorrow, after a week of "Chefography" episodes
featuring its pantheon of questionably talented cooking celebrities, The
Food Network will honor Julia on her birthday?

(and could they please do it without mentioning Julie?)

I find that hard to believe. Let's face it, tv has become nothing but
a huge shill for the movie industry.

I saw the movie the day it opened and enjoyed it more than I had
expected to. From what people seeing the movie in preview had said, I
didn't expect to like the Julie part, but I thought that was done
quite well.

I believe their "Chefography" series is only about Food Network
"chefs." I don't think Julia was ever on the Food Network, was she?
I only saw her on PBS.

Yes, that does fill in the gaps in my knowledge of what happened.
That is a very interesting article, thanks for the posting.

On Big Brother, they have plugged two movies this season, and the show
is only half over.

Oh, I didn't mean would they run a "Chefography" on her. I meant would
they bother mentioning her or commemorating her birthday in any way at
all. From what I could see, they didn't.

The two PBS stations in my area did, but only because they're still in
the throes of a pledge drive... okay, all right, truth be told, they're
not. The pledge drives ended last weekend, but yesterday they re-ran
their prepared shills for Julia's DVDs and shamelessly pushed their
drive for just one more afternoon. So I guess you could say that even
public television didn't respectfully remember Julia on her birthday,
electing to ride the cash cow instead.
