Default Green tomatoes and Panko

You people made me hungry talking about fried green tomatoes. I had
the tomatoes and some bacon grease but no corn meal and only self
rising flour. That might have worked, but I wasn't sure. Did have
panko. They turned out well. Yum!

I'm using Italian seasoned panko crumbs for tonight's FGT feast. Now the
dilemma, ranch or bleu cheese? Both?

Whatever works! I'll have to check that thread. My tomatoes may be
green forever!

What is up with that? All over the country people are saying their tomatoes
won't ripen. So I cut all the tomatoes off my Celebrity vine and sliced
them up. Despite being on the vine at that size for the last 3 weeks they
had apparently stopped developing inside. Their is very little of the
"jelly" present in them and only very tiny seeds.

They're kind of tart but not bitter. Will they cook up OK?

Paul

Paul, I used ranch. It was good. Your seasoned panko sounds really
good.

My Romas are ripening just fine and really starting to come in.
The Brandywines are just sitting there, huge and green. Mocking me.

Unusually cool weather here. Until yesterday. I have picked one
tomato. They are *just* coming to the farmers markets and certainly not
in quantities other than trays of 3-5, depending on size.

Hi Barb,
I'm just getting some yield after waiting all summer. My Brandywines are
just getting ripe, my yellow heirlooms are doing pretty well as are the
yellow cherry tomatoes (They've been at the edible stage for 2 weeks now).

My big-boys have only produced 3 tomatoes, only one of them ripe. The plant
is starting to fade and now new fruit is being produced. Looks like I'll
have to pull that one and call it a loss.

Jon
