No slapping necessary. I use mayo (or Miracle Whip.... I like both).

The person I married likes mustard. Other than that, she is a very sensible
and intelligent woman. <vbg>

A pound of bacon! Now that's a sandwich.

I had an elderly relative who loved bacon but every time she ate it, her
sister gave her hell because of the fat, cholesterol, etc. When she was 85,
she was talking about this... and I told her that if I lived to be 85, not
only would I eat bacon, I would deep-fry a whole pig and dip it in mayo and
eat it while chain smoking Camel cigarettes. She never started smoking, but
she did enjoy her food and lived to be 94.

Nope. I love chewbacca rolls but if you use them for a sandwich, they need
something more substantial than BLT..... more meat, cheese, etc.

Listen, Cliff Claven. If you do a quick search you'll find that I don't
like mustard on my burger (posted 7/20) and I don't like it on my BLT.
However... my wife likes it on both. I love her any way.

Wife... another concept that I am sure you don't understand along with
electrical wiring, bifocals, politics, timers, pot construction and any of
the other hundred subjects you seem to think you are expert in.

Here..... I'll buy you a beer if you go sit at the end of the bar and keep
quiet until your friend Norm comes in.

I'll go with Heinz 57 sauce. I also like a slice of red or
sweet onion sliced so thin you can see through it.

I take it the lettuce is one of the varieties with flavor not
iceplant, I mean iceberg? ;^) Fresh tomatoes and
lettuce from the back yard. Yum.

And being wheat intolerant I'll specify that the bread be the
very heavy German or Dutch 100% rye sort. Or maybe
one of the gluten free types available in the freezer section
of the local specialty shop. I'm not impressed with the dry
gluten free options available from N-ergy but I rather like the
frozen Millet bread with the colorful label by the folks better
known for their Ezekial Bread.

You may, but I'm going to use both hands, in succession. Then I'm going
to stand behind you in line to do it again. :-) Mustard. Jesus, Mary,

And sliced on the bias. I occasionally slip a few potato chips in my BLT...
my friend's mother used to do that when she'd fix us kids BLTs for lunch,
took me years to figure out that she did that to stretch the bacon.... now I
like it that way.

Not only pur piggery, but it makes it a BLT&SC sandwich. Now I'm going
to have to slap YOU, Bob. SC has no business on a BLT. It's wrong.

Wasn't that what the OP was about? And, yes, a "traditional" BLT is
definitely not what you're describing.

As I said, what you described is probably very tasty but does not represent
what I consider to be a BLT. I'm sure there could be hundreds of
variations, but they wouldn't represent what most people picture when they
think of a BLT.

I'm sure I would enjoy a BST as well, but that's also off the track of the
OP.

There must be thousands of different kinds of sandwiches, but that was
hardly the point of this thread.

> Course, i should say, im quite fond of a couple of eggs over easy on

I enjoy an over semi-well done egg samdwich on good white toast, along with
a slice of onion, maybe a leaf of lettuce, and mayo. The very thought of
ketchup with eggs has my stomach reeling. :-)

In coffee shops and small restaurants of the 1950s, there was often a
choice of a "toasted cheese sandwich" or a "grilled cheese sandwich". I'll
stick with the latter.

Sounds like a very flat sandwich to me. :-)

Yeah, like when you decide you're making a Bacon, BASIL, and Tomato

I'll go with Heinz 57 sauce. I also like a slice of red or
sweet onion sliced so thin you can see through it.

I take it the lettuce is one of the varieties with flavor not
iceplant, I mean iceberg? ;^) Fresh tomatoes and
lettuce from the back yard. Yum.

Sorry, but designer lettuce won't do. B and T provide the flavor; L provides
the crunch.

On the other hand, anyone who would eschew mayo for Heinz 57 ...

Don't anyone stand in Barb's way today, the way she's handing out slaps.

On the other hand, some of them are deserved. Not mine, but some.

Mayo, definitely. And sliced avocado if you are lucky enough to have a
good one. I've never tried it, but I just had a revelation that basil
leaves might be good in there, too.

No, I don't think I want sandwich spread in my BLT--and Heinz is
much better than Kraft.
