I think brown button mushrooms taste better than the white ones

According to PracticallyEdible.com they are the same Agaricus
mushroom. Button mushrooms when very young, brown Cremini/Crimini
when older, portobello when fully mature. I use the brown and white
buttons pretty much interchangeably. I do think the brown ones have
slightly more flavor, but any difference will be easily overcome by
any additional seasonings or flavorings such as wine or fortified
wine. Sometimes they are priced about the same and then I'll buy the
brown ones, sometimes they mark 'em up and call them Crimini or Baby
Bellos and then I buy the white ones. -aem
