Default Blue Bell Southern Style Blackberry Cobbler Ice cream

Got a call this afternoon, local store got a shipment in. This stuff is
outrageously good, full bore, all the fat and sugar plus the blackberry
cobbler, including the crust. At $6.30 a half gallon plus 9 3/4% sales
tax it had to be good. And, yes, Blue Bell still sells ice cream in half
gallon (2 quart) containers.

I've had that flavor, with slightly lower sales tax (8.25%) and the
lower price doesn't diminish the flavor any

If you drive across the border to buy it (Orange, TX?), I'm pretty
there's no sales tax. Last I checked, ice cream was still considered a
nontaxable dairy product (except ready-to-eat single servings.)

I believe you are correct. Looking at my last grocery receipt I see the
only taxable item was my Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper.

Blue Bell ice cream is some of the best I've had. Alas, it's not to be
found where I am (sigh).

Yeah, but, that's a 66 mile round trip Bob. How much is gasoline?

How many half-gallons of Blue Bell are you buying? 8-)

I find it hard to trust any food manufacturer who doesn't list
Nutrition Info/Ingredients on their website.

I was gonna say, "Can I get some nutrition info on that?"

I've got NO problem with an ice cream maker making an ice cream "full
bore, all the fat and sugar plus the blackberry
cobbler, including the crust", but they've gotta publish their
nutrition data. I'm sure it's sky high in fats and carbs, and that's
OK as long as ya don't make a meal of it.

Just one at a time, there's just two old people and a little dog to eat
it. <G>

Yes, I was thinking that driving to Texas was not cost effective to save
~60 cents on a half gallon of ice cream.

Blue Bell is high in fat, that is why we like it. :-P I just read
that Blue Bell was the third biggest seller of ice cream nationwide,
which is odd since it is not available everywhere.

George, I noticed Blackberry Cobbler in the store, but I passed on it.
We tried Grooms' Cake and Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream and it was
pretty good, frozen strawberries are tasty. I looked for Key Lime Pie,
their flavor of the month, but it was sold out. For two weeks, Blue
Bell was on sale for $3.99 and I had a $1 coupon that I printed from
Blue Bell's website. I am trying to behave, but they keep coming out
with such good flavors. :-P

Years ago it was only available within 100 miles of Brenham, Texas
Becca. Then word was spread by mouth of Belle, the famous Blue Bell
Jersey cow, on television, and other folks wanted to taste the stuff. We
could buy it in Abu Dhabi, UAE back in 1991 but the Middle East is full
of Texicans.

I know it is sinful and decadent but someone has to eat the stuff or all
those folks at the Blue Bell creamery will have to go on welfare. It
would be unAmerican not to eat it.

Yep, that's what I remember back 25+ years ago in the Houston area.
Blue Bell ice cream was supplied in a limited regional area that
included Texas (and other areas I don't know or remember.)

Sky, who doesn't often indulge with ice cream, but . . . . <G>
