Actually, since the lost the client, it's almost impossible to find one that
works. mirc isnt working either.

Try Xchat, C. It's ported to windows and very mirc-like. Open
source, so it's free, as in NO $$$.

Nope, not free. They want a credit card.

Works for me. Don't know why you're having problems.

Well, that certainly sucks. It's free for linux. If you are not
intimidated by the command line, there's always irssi, my favorite irc
client. I know damn well it's free.

So what's the network again? My computer died and I lost all config
settings.

I don't know what happened to my reply to C, but forget using the
address name. Use the IP number, which is 216.165.179.135. This
bypasses any problems you DNS server may be having.

I see some successful connections, but you seem to be timing out. Try
using the numbered IP address instead of the address name. You may be
having DNS server probs.

I don't think it's you, C. I just got lagged out for a few minutes.
It's happened serveral times before. Quite frankly, this irc server
sucks. We need to come up with a better one.

There are two steps:

(1) Test that your mirc (or other) client works on some
well-known IRC network such as irc.undernet.org .

(2) Then try it on xeon.edigic.com . It should work.

I connected before using Chatzilla. I just haven't reinstalled that after
my laptop crashed, I guess I will now.

Can you post the host to connect to RPC chat?

It's nb and me on the chat line. Anna was there, but had to go.
Anybody interested in a little discussion of slaughtering wild hog?

I have no idea what is going on, but nb timed out too. Coldfire quit
when you did so I figured it was a server problem... no server went
offline when nb got timed out.

I use Chatzilla and have no connectivity issues, but I really do think
the problem is related to a server.

Sorry, I don't know what a host is... but here's how I got to the chat
room

in the text box type
/attach xeon.edigic.com

after you connect with xeon, type
/join #rec.food.cooking

Then go to IRC, open the drop down window and select "open this
channel at startup"

Guess I missed all the 'excitement'. Funny, haven't had any problems
with it (thus far) - but even if I did - hey, it's free.

Me either, but I do see people dropping out and not because they
intend to.
