Any thoughts about making a "pork sloppy joe sandwich" with leftover grilled
pork? I'm going to try the following: a.. 1 lb leftover pork roast, sliced thin and cut into small pieces b.. salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste c.. 1 tbsp olive oil d.. 1 onion, diced e.. 62cloves garlic, chopped f.. 1/4 tsp fennel seeds, crushed with the flat of a knife g.. 1/4 tsp dried rosemary h.. 1/2 tsp dried oregano i.. 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes j.. 1/2 cups chicken stock k.. 3/4 cups tomato sauce Brown pork pieces and cook in the oil. Add the onions and garlic; cook for 3 minutes, and then add the tomato sauce and other seasonings. Simmer, for about 1 hour, or until the pork is very tender. Taste for salt and pepper, and serve hot on the hamburger bun with a slice of raw onion. Whadya think? Thoughts will be appreciated. Ed |

You've overpowered the pork with competing nukedoms: grated horseradish and gherkins (and potentially the mustard, too, if you're using Colman's.) The kaiser roll got steamrollered, too. The Ranger |

news ![]() > Sloppy Joe's sauce is filthy with sugar and/or Brown sugar. I didn't see him using ketchup or canned tomato sauce, molasses, or brown sugar which, if memory serves -- and often doesn't -- is kind of key to making sloppy joes. The recipe Eddie posted looks interesting but not a sloppy joe does it make. The Ranger |

Add some smoked ham and some provolone cheese and make a Cuban sandwich. Paul |

Put the meat on a plate or wooden slate. Put b - g around it to taste. That's called Brettljausn. > The kaiser roll got steamrollered, too. > Roll_s_. Once again for out merking friends : Don't try to make a sandwich. Sit down and enjoy the various combinations. Cheers, Michael Kuettner |

![]() I haven't read the rest of the posts yet, but my thought is - way too much thinking. An alphabet? Guess on the spices - wasn't it spiced the first time? A chunk of meat, some lettuce, tomato, onion. Mayo, mustard, ketchup - whatever to your flavor. You want to bother measuring a quarter teaspoon of something for a leftover sandwich? I don't think I can deal with the rest of the thread. b |

On the other hand, I just woke up and saw your 62 cloves of garlic to
a pound of used pork. Either learn to type or invite me over. b |
