MCINL (Which is not a complaint about the choices available.)

I know vaguely who Gordon Ramsay is, and I do watch some cooking shows,
but I've never seen his. Or Sandra Lee's, for that matter, except a few
YouTube exerpts of some especially bad moments in her show.

We get a fair amount of Ramsey's shows here - but so far none of Sandra
Lee's. Should I be grateful?

Extremely. She gives even Trailer Trash(TM) cuisine a bad name.

I never watch him. I've only seen the promos. If I want to hear that
language and see bad behaviour I'll go stand outside the local high school
at lunchtime....Sharon in Canada

About two years ago I sat through like half of two of Ramsey's shows... the
buffoon is a fake... all he does is bluster at people who were obviously
chosen because they can't cook a lick, the wussy runt isn't even capable of
a proper cussin' out. His show is nothing about food/cooking (it's sicko
slapstick), in fact in both those shows he never touches any food, doesn't
even pick up a pan, he offers nothing constructive, only yells just to hear
himself yell, never demonstrates that he could do better... just like
certain individuals here who put people down but never show any of the foods
they boast of, naturally they're frauds. So just for the fun of it, I
checked out his recipe web site... from the few of his recipes I perused he
definitely is afflicted with TIAD BIG TIME... that garbage doesn't even look
like lasagna, and his chili is disgusting, canned is far superior... if
there ever was a kitchen charlatan it's Gordon Ramsey. Keep in mind that
most very successful restaurants are owned by someone who can't cook but
likes to pretend they can... anyone with the dollars can own a restaurant
and hire people to run every aspect of the show. And even though a
restaurant is very successful doesn't automatically mean it's showing a
profit, many notable people who obtain their wealth elsewhere purposely
choose eateries as a tax shelter and because they enjoy the fame that goes
with seeing their name in lights. Naturally a restaurant that doesn't need
to show a profit can offer much more ambiance and a better location than one
that needs to stay in the black. I know from personal experience and
because food is highly perishable that it's very difficult to operate a
restaurant at a profit, it's very lucky to barely stay above water, most
fail... in the US only one out of seven lasts the first year. Most folks
judge a restaurant on the amenities first and the food last... anyone can
cook a better steak on their home grill. Many chain restaurants produce
higher quality with more consistancy than highly rated restaurants but no
one notices because they are blinded by the flash in the pan... most folks
who dine at fancy schmancy eateries only remember the appetizers and
desserts. If you don't order an appetizer, dessert, and drinks as far as
the restaurant ledger is concerned they took a loss... even McD's operates
at a loss when folks don't order the fries and a drink

Hey, hey, hey. I've been in million dollar houses with top o the
line kitchens, and the frau hadn't gotten beyond Chef B yet. What
would you call THAT cuisine?

Watched his show for about 30 seconds, once.

Wasn't at all impressed with his staged anger and theatrics.

Couldn't rfc vote on this. Didn't even inspect the vote.

The only time I have seen him was in promos. His yelling and screaming
was a big turn off, so I did not watch it.

Can you imagine a real life boss behaving that way?

I'm sure there are a few. That doesn't mean that he behaves like that
when he's being a real-life boss. It's a TV show. He does that for the
entertainment value. If it doesn't entertain you, then indeed you
shouldn't watch.

I took a look at his lasagna - not at all appetizing. Burned the top
cheese, it looked like, and looked rather dried out. S--t, even MINE
looks better than that.

I can't stand him.

I read the recipe, dissssgusting.... if he ever tried to pass that off in
NY's Little Italy he'd be at the bottom of the East River wearing c-menta

It's a Brit lasagna. You know if those Little Italy versions were served
here in Italy no one would want to eat them. That's not a yardstick worth
using.
