Default Biltong..... for Cathy.

Now I don't have to go all the way up in the hills (Maleny) to get some
ridgey-didge biltong.

Eating some of the 'plain' at the moment, with a very nice Coonawarra Cab
Sav.......... life is good.

Got a packet of the 'Smokey' flavour for maybe tomorrow, if it lasts that
long!!

Enjoy it!

Was looking at the product/price list - and will take it upon myself to
offer a word (or thirty) of advice.

Unless you're a big MSG fan, I'd skip the Aromat. You can also have my
share of Smash. I can recommend the dried fruit tho'. If you really
wanna know what my morning 'cuppa tea' tastes like - try the 5 Roses.
Of course the Simba crisps are one of my weak spots...

I'll stop now, (before I get sued).

;-)

I'm always open to first hand advice ;-)

I have no problem with MSG, but any of the spices weren't on my radar
because I'm still working my way through the box that Carol (cshenk)
sent me.

*And* at the same place I found the biltong, I found a huge array of
Australian made spice mixes, including a Cajun which I bought and will
compare to the 'real' stuff.

Sounds devestating........ what is it?

'5 Roses' immediately conjures a very sweet image/taste.

I'm a Kwazulu fan :-)

I'll have to get some to see where your Achilles Heel is ;-)

No problem with me. I only had the basics when I was over there, and I
like to try lots of different stuff. It's good to get a heads up on what
is worthwhile and what isn't.

There's lots of Australian crap that I don't bother buying as well :-)

Instant mashed potatoes - ya know, the powdered kind - just add boiling
water and stir like hell. Some people love it; I'll pass.

<g> Your risk, because I have no idea how fresh they'll still be by the
time you get them...

Jeeze, even tho' most of that stuff on that list is not too bad, it's
not what I'd call cheap (because it's imported goods to you guys.
Sigh.) So I feel obligated to try and save you a few pennies ;-)

BLECH!!!!

Over here, we have Deb, which also has it's own Facebook page.........

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Deb-In...to/41789704514

Personally, I tried it once to see what it was like, and it tasted like
dishwater (not that I've tried any of that!!).

I also tend to think that places like KFC use the instant mash crap in their
'potatos and gravy'. Which is why I don't eat it.

Interestingly, Smash is apparently a British product........

Chips are chips, they stay 'fresh' for a looooooooong time :-)

The word around is that they are better than our crinkle cut chips, so
they're definitely on the menu!!
And the flavours!!

Original Chutney
Smoked Beef
Mexican Chilli
Tomato Sauce
Farmstyle Boerwors
Biltong Flavour
Fruit Chutney

Smoked Beef, Boerwors, Biltong and Original Chutney are jumping out at me!!

I'll have to procure some for the next 'gathering'.

Thanks, but as you say....... any food items that are imported are OK every
now and then, but wouldn't be a staple in the shopping cart every week!!

why are they made of meat?
