Default Chocolate fountain for Holiday party at work

We would like to have a chocolate fountain at a holiday party for
about 200 staff at a nursing home. What would be some fun, assorted,
and not real expensive things to have available for the dipping?
Marshmallows, cherries, banannas, twinkies, oreos............. I was
thinking of using bamboo skewers to dip the treats with. Any comments
or ideas weould be appreciated. Thanks.

Before you commit to that course of action, have you looked into what
actually flows in a chocolate fountain? Last I saw, the chocolate had to be
liberally adulterated with vegetable oil, and that thought turned me off the
whole idea.

Add to that, a nursing home? Why?????

Those worthless, fat-assed nurses and aides sit around eating enough
candy and junk as it is, do you really need to throw them a party with
a shit fountain?

Oh wait, maybe that would be appropriate...

Not sure which nursing homes you spend time at but around here 90% of
staff run their asses off doing things for residents that family
members would never agree to do. They care for mean people as well as
nice people, violent people as well as people in the process of
dying. Sure sometime they sit down between feeding, toileting,
laundry, and bedmaking. How much time do you get yourself a cup of
cooffee, read the news, check your email while at work? I hope when
you end up at a nursing home that you get the respect and care that
you deserve.

Pam, I didn't see your OP... but just about anything that goes with
chocolate, can be skewered or held in your fingers is fine. You
really don't need to go overboard... 6 choices are more than enough.
I think the only item you missed is pretzel sticks. They do really,
really well with chocolate fountains. Ask me how I know.

PS: If you google "dippers for chocolate fountains" and "chocolate
fountain dipper ideas" you'll get even more on the subject.

I love cooking with wine.
Sometimes I even put it in the food.

Carol also uses strawberries, cubed pound cake, savoiardi biscuits
(ladyfingers), pretzels, cubed bread, and several other things when she
does the fountain for her Xmas open house. I'll ask her tomorrow what
all she puts out.

When we set up a chocolate fountain strawberries are popular, also
pretzel sticks and potato chips. Some folks like spicy chips for
dipping in chocolate. You will need to station a guard to prevent
double dipping.

Pineapple chunks. Pound cake cut into cubes (or angel food cake).

Pineapple chunks are my favorite, but I also like strawberries and bananas.

Other things my daughter and I use (for chocolate fondue) a
strawberries, hunks of angel food cake, little coconut macaroons,
clementine segments.

Actually, it is mostly she who dips. The first time I did this, I
OD'd on chocolate. I was very sick, so sick that I have never
been tempted to repeat that exercise. (A word to the wise?)

Great idea--esp since I love them and can get some divine ones.
(I am not too fond of the really sweet Turkish ones.)
