Hot pink in the master bath, but hey, you have to take the bad with the good. :) We have wall-to-wall carpeting in two rooms, and I steam clean them quarterly. We were really lucky because the hardwoods were protected with padding and WTW carpeting for 30 years. They were nearly perfect when we moved in. |

Don't have those problems with basements and hardwood flooring. In climes where winter temps typically drop to 0ºF and -0ºF folks heat their basement floor, doesn't cost much to maintain once that mass is warmed and will save substantially on heating bills for the upper floors while keeping temperatures uniform. Wall to wall carpeting, along with its padding, will act as a good insulator to keep the space below heated while the space above remains colder. In cold climes, especially homes with a basement, most especially with multi-level homes, wall to wall carpeting will cause increased heating costs, as will hard tiles. Hardwood flooring with area rugs is the most effective in lowering heating bills, and is the most advantageous for those with respiratory diseases. Btw, one does not develop Asthma, one is born with Asthma... people develop Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) which is often accompanied with Asthma-like symptoms. These are two very different respiratory diseases; Asthma is associated with bronchial contractions/constrictions, COPD is associated with bronchial inflamation. COPD used to be called Adult Onset Asthma... some doctors still treat COPD with Asthma medications, big mistake, only worsens COPD. But regardless, wall to wall carpeting is disasterous to all forms of respiratory disease (actually it's the padding that's mostly the culprit). Those who own expensive oriental rugs should not ever attempt to wash them, washing can permanently destroy those natural fibers by causing "felting" (always have your expensive rugs professionally dry cleaned, by those who specialize in cleaning oriental rugs. And exposure to sunlight will fade the colors... drying in the sun adds insult to injury... one should always draw their shades to protect all interior fabrics from UV light (especially costly natural fibers). Even the natural pigments in hardwood flooring will be bleached and/or darken when exposed to sunlight (with hardwood flooring it's a good idea to periodically rearrange furniture and area rugs, and as much as possible keep drapes/shades drawn). |

No, the post did not show up on my server, thanks for quoting it. ;-) It's been 22 years since I've smoked weed and I had a severe panic attack last time I took a couple of bong hits over at Rogers. I've not wanted to get anywhere near it since. Besides, I'd be risking my job. We are subject to random drug screens on demand, so taking any illegal drugs is totally out of the question. -- Peace! It's not as hard as ceramic/stone etc so dropped things don't necessarily break, has a relief design that looks like small tiles and is very comfortable on bare feet - even in a ND winter! (On stands till Oct 1.) That sounds nice, especially for the kitchen. We don't break things often but when we do, it's a mess. I've considered removable decorative rubber runners along the stove and sink areas. Once I can take outside and wash with the garden hose. We have linoleum tile (wood grain look) thru the entire house now, Surprisingly, it was not that expensive to install. I just wear socks around the house in the winter. Besides, even in houses with WtW carpet, I hope to gods the kitchen and bathroom are not carpeted! -- Peace! Interesting! I'd been wondering if something like that existed. My kitchen floor is currently vinyl sheeting, and I'd been considering replacing it with eucalyptus because it's not as hard as most other woods. Bob |
