Ranee!
Please don't go any where; I have burning questions about Saudi (and other Arabian Gulf countries' recipes). What can you tell me about Kabsa? Wikipedia says it's the national dish of Saudi Arabia but It's not in any of my Middle Eastern cookbooks! We just got a tiny little new restaurant here [Ali Baba]. The owners are Saudi and Kabsa's the only really Saudi dish on the menu (choice of chicken or lamb). They have felafel, kibbeh, gyros, etc. I think they opened it because we have so many Arab college students & grad students in the area. It's very welcome downtown. The only other place for middle eastern (prepared) foods is Cafe Aladdin, owned by two really nice Palestinian brothers named Ahmed Younis and Younis Younis (I just call him Younis 2) :-) Salaam aleikum, Lynn in Fargo |
