11 more children die from the H1N1 Pork Flu.

Delays in vaccine production are an ill omen.

Don't know about no big deal or not, but it seems serious enough for the
Australian Govt to purchase 22million vaccinations and give them to everyone
in Oz for free.

I haven't had mine yet, but then again, I don't hang around with people who
kiss pigs ;-P

I forget the exact numbers (on a 60 Minutes TV segment yesterday) but last
year, for this time of year, without being innoculated, 75 people caught
the regular flu in the USA. So far swine flu has bitten 700+ in the USA.

That's a pretty big deal, imho!.

BTW, those numbers reflected the reported number of patients treated at
hospital emergency rooms.

When the vaccine becomes available here, I'm NOT getting it!
I don't take the seasonal flu' vaccine either.

I've not had a case of the flu' since I was in High School.
The two times I've taken the seasonal flu' vaccine, it made me sick both
times.

I''d not touch the H1N1 vaccine with a 10 ft. pole.

YMMV...

Media sensationalism is not a good idea. We are not in a crisis. On
the other hand, it's serious. People in the US have already died, and
it's not even flu season yet. The normal seasonal flu mostly kills the
old and weak. H1N1, before the flu season has even hit, is killing the
young and healthy. So, it's not business as usual.

I've never had a flu shot, that I remember. I'm planning on getting one
this week.

I'm planning on getting that one also, once it's available for my
priority class.

I got the regular one a couple weeks ago.

I'm getting that one as soon as I can get my hands on it, twisting my
priority class as needed.

Last Saturday, my 18 year old son, who has caught one of these bugs,
called me at 2:30 AM and said that he was experiencing hallucinations -
he kept seeing a building with cut-away walls where the people inside
kept following him, if they got too close to the edge they'd fall off.

My 30 year old son, who also has the flu, tells me that he couldn't
shake the idea out of his head that he was a cowboy riding the range and
kept seeing a board game grid filled with jewels whenever he closed his
eyes. He says he's not going to be playing video games for a while.

This is the first time I've heard of such nutty goings on and my
assumption is that this flu season could be an especially memorable one.
My son said this was somewhat different from past illness in severity -
the good thing is that the fever part seems to be over for both of them.
They sure looked like hell though.

We have vaccines, but we also have a large crop of vaccinophobic PYVs
afraid that vaccines will give their darling hell spawn autism. If we're
lucky, perhaps the casualties will be somewhat asymmetric and will
improve the gene pool.

They say the second wave of this flu will be hitting soon, while they were
announcing this they mentioned briefly that a number of children have died
already. There hasn't been any mention of this , except for this few second
blurb. I'm wondering if they are deliberatley controlling what gets out to the
media?

That's scary. Thanks for mentioning it though, because I am now

No one deserves to die because of this flu outbreak. As for the gene pool, it
can't be improved as long as people with a like outlook as you are still
floating around in it.

I agree. I even like Om, but if I had to choose between her dying,
and any of my family and close friends, I'd far rather her die.
Besides, folks who reject vaccines *deserve* to die far more than
those who wanted, but could not obtain vaccines.

If the darling hell spawn die because their ignorant parents don't get
them vaccinated it's the fault of those ignorant (ex)parents. If H1N1 or
some other malady spreads rapidly with this unvaccinated population as
carriers, it is also the fault of those ignorant parents.

There haven't been any significant disease outbreaks in the US or the
"western world" in many decades *because* of vaccinations, as a result,
the parents of today are almost totally ignorant of how things used to
be before those vaccines were available. As a result of this ignorance,
these parents are exposing their children to a very high risk of
becoming seriously ill with possible lifelong harm, over the disproven
claims of conspiracy theorist fear mongers, and are also putting the
population at large at increased risk.

True, but some folks deserve to die less than others. No child
deserves to die because his or her parent is too ignorant to have
their child vaccinated, but a parent who chooses to vaccinate, but
cannot obtain the vaccine is FAR less deserving of having their child
die than a parent who chooses not to get the child vaccinated. Do you
disagree?

Do you understand genetics?

Do you understand the scientific method?

Are you aware that the safety and efficacy of flu vaccines makes
failing to get vaccinated against the novel H1N1, which has been known
to kill otherwise healthy folks, profoundly foolish. True, many
people are foolish for reasons other than genetic inferiority, and
most educational systems fail to stress the importance of
understanding probability
(permutations and combinations), but if you believe that there is any
link between genetic parentage and intelligence (also something borne
out in the literature), you might also come to hypothesize that
"perhaps the casualties will be somewhat asymmetric and will improve
the gene pool."

It's comforting to know that pig flu is aptly named.

Hmmm ...
What happened to the phrase "Swine Flu"?
"Pork Flu", "Pig Flu"? Pig farmers don't like that phrase?

I will probably get the H1N1 shot. I am around too many people.

I used to get the flu once or more every year. One year was bad and
decided to get the regular shot the next time around. For me it worked,
I have not had the flu since, almost 10 years ago.

If I was not around so many people, younger, no past health problems, I
would not get the shot. Since I am older, around people and feel every
ache and pain, I will get the shot. And ... hope I do not have to live
in an underground settlement only coming out at night with half a brain
and looking like a "legendary" neanderthal.

Enjoy Life ... Dan

Maybe not. But you've become as irritating as hell. Oh, I forgot, you
plonked me too.

So anybody that Andy hasn't plonked yet, please pass this on:

Please keep on plonking and you'll be talking to yourself pretty soon..

I'm sure "they" are. "They" forced the media to provide extensive
coverage of a helium balloon with no kid in it. "They" did that, rather
than inform us about H1N1.

You should contact President Obama right now, and tell him that Canadian
citizens have a right to know what is happening with H1N1 at the Minnie
Soda State Fair.

You certainly seem ignorant of the fact that since April 86 children in the USA
have died from the H1N1 virus. You seem to think this is humorous, and that you
feel the need to joke about something so serious. It was our health officials
that concluded the virus is now targeting children in the US much more than it
is adults.
