Here's an old family favorite of ours, Chuck, enjoy! :

Kitty Litter Cake
Rated: 5 Stars!
Servings: 20

Submitted By: Dee

"Great Halloween cake! You'll need a new kitty litter box, box liner and
litter scoop as "props" to get the full effect with this cake!"

Ingredients:
1 (18.25 ounce) package German chocolate
cake mix
1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
2 (3.5 ounce) packages instant vanilla
pudding mix 1 (12 ounce) package vanilla sandwich
cookies
3 drops green food coloring
1 (12 ounce) package tootsie rolls

Directions:

1. Prepare cake mixes and bake according to package directions (any size
pan).

2. Prepare pudding according to package directions and chill until ready to
assemble.

3. Crumble sandwich cookies in small batches in a food processor, scraping
often. Set aside all but 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup add a few drops of green
food coloring and mix.

4. When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble them into a large
bowl. Toss with 1/2 of the remaining cookie crumbs, and the chilled pudding.
You probably won't need all of the pudding, you want the cake to be just
moist, not soggy.

5. Line kitty litter box with the kitty litter liner. Put cake mixture into
box.

6. Put half of the unwrapped tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat
until softened. Shape the ends so that they are no longer blunt, and curve
the tootsie rolls slightly. Bury tootsie rolls randomly in the cake and
sprinkle with half of the remaining cookie crumbs. Sprinkle a small amount
of the green colored cookie crumbs lightly over the top.

7. Heat 3 or 4 of the tootsie rolls in the microwave until almost melted.
Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle lightly with some of the green
cookie crumbs. Heat the remaining tootsie rolls until pliable and shape as
before. Spread all but one randomly over top of cake mixture. Sprinkle with
any remaining cookie crumbs. Hang the remaining tootsie roll over side of
litter box and sprinkle with a few green cookie crumbs. Serve with the
pooper scooper for a gross Halloween dessert..."

You're the best! (laugh) I picked up a box of Milk Ways and a
box of Nestle candy bars. I'm holding back the Baby Ruths out of
that sucker, those are mine!

I totally forgot this weekend is Halloween. It's the end of October
already? Geez.

Popcorn. A large bowl of it. Buttered and salted. Eaten whilst
reading a can't-put-it-down book, crouched in your favorite comfy chair
with a dim reading light in the darkened back family room with all the
drapes closed so no one knows you're home.

There's goblins out there, after all. I don't mind the little ones,
they're kinda cute, but the 6 ft tall ones who crane to see what
hockables I own scare the behoogies outta me.

Often a soup - keeps them warm when they're out trick-or-treating. I
always make pumpkin bread to snack on later.

We often hang out with the neighbors, so I was also thinking of this
"Halloween Hummus" idea for the group: you make hummus, puree it with
fresh spinach until a good sickly green, put it in a shallow tray,
then put pretzel twists around the edge like a fence, and crackers
sticking up like tombstones.

And I hope to win the "best house on the block" by handing out full-
sized candy bars. (Which were actually quite reasonable at Costco with
a coupon).

Have you ever seen Jay Leno ask his man-in-the street questions?
I haven't seen it often (his show conflicts with the early news)
but I am always astounded by how clueless (or coached to be
stupid) the people are.

These days you'd' stump them with:
Who's the president?
Who's vice-president.
What's the big country to the north?
What's the country south of California (or Texas)?
What ocean borders California?
Name two New England states.
What two states aren't connected to the other 48?
What state is made up of islands?
What continent is Egypt on?
What continent is Brazil on?
What House does the House Speaker preside over?

LOL! I **love** this, Gloria! I hide on Halloween, but if I were
answering the door, I would love to give this a whirl. Then again, I'd
awaken on November 1 to find my house egged. Or worse.

LOL! I wish I could have been there the first time such a cake was
unveiled - also when the idea was conceived. There are many such food
moments I wish I could witness!

I'll make one of these myself one day...hmmm, maybe this month?

Daylight Savings Time used to be the last weekend in October and the
first weekend in April. Some politician changed the rules on us, so now
I have to look it up. This year it is November 7th. Why take something
so simple and screw it up? Only a politician would do that.

Sorry about the double, the September server coughed while I was sending
the first one..

Anywho, the wiki for day light savings times states that it's spring
forward the second Sunday in March, and fall back the first Sunday in
November (the 1st this year).

I forget, was it changed to save fuel of what...???

In any case, IIRC Nov. 7th is "Revolution Day", which in the old USSR was
their equivalent of the US July 4th...it marked the anniversary of the 1917
Bolshevik Revolution.

That was an unusual birthday cake. For me, the ugliest cake was the
rat, it is located beneath the kitty littler cake. I'm not sure I could
eat that! Unless it was chocolate...
