You had mentioned maybe visiting St. Louis after I'd pointed out some
of the attractions. One of those was the Symphony. If you like
orchestral music, you really should visit when you can go hear them.
Yesterday they did "The Movie Music of John Williams." I've decided
that in spite of pretty much disliking the Star Wars movie, and all
the prequels/sequels, that the score to the first movie (IV) is one of
the best pieces of music of the 20th Century, and that Williams is one
of the most brilliant composers of all time. The place was packed,
and there were lots of children there, which bodes well for the future
of classical music here.

I'm not sf but I agree about John Williams. Also Jerry Goldsmith (who did
the score for the Star Trek film). James Horner picked up the baton with
the subsequent Star Trek films and also did the score for 'Titanic'. This
is brilliant music. Also Thomas Neuman, who did the score for 'The Green
Mile', 'Road to Perdition', etc.

How nice! Thanks for the FYI. I told hubby about all the features
mentioned previously and he agreed that we have to visit for St. Louis
sure.

I love cooking with wine.
Sometimes I even put it in the food.

I love classical music, but the most moving "classical" performance I
ever heard live was in a concert by the Cleveland Orchestra. They had
a guest conductor whose name I cannot remember who had written a full
orchestra treatment of a group of songs by Jimmy Webb. My semi snobby
in-laws looked rather askance when I had tears rolling down my face at
"Mac Arthur Park". It was absolutely stunning. Hooray for "pop"
orchestra!
Lynn in Fargo
sang with The Fargo Moorhead Symphony . . . twice! (Don't laugh! They
ain't the philharmonic, but they're pretty good!)
