Hello All!
I don't know if it was in this ng but "salt licorice" was recently mentioned to cries of "Ugh" and disgust. Today, I saw salt licorice coins in sale in one of those bulk candy places in a mall. So what the heck, I bought a small quantity. You know it hardly tastes of salt, nor yet is very sweet but is hard, chewy licorice and I like it! -- James Silverton Potomac, Maryland Email, with obvious alterations: not.jim.silverton.at.verizon.not |

I buy licorice when I go to a local Dutch store because it is so much fresher than anywhere else. I have tried several different last licorices that they sell and some of them are very salty, so salty that I couldn't handle it. |

It's not made with salt either. I think it got it's name to evoke thoughts of the shore in summer. Clever idea if that's true. First time I had some I thought, if I was a dentist I'd give it to all my patients! I learned to let it warm up in my pockets to soften them up. I've never seen it in coins, only cylinders and drops. How many flavors? Andy |

Try to find a Dutch or Danish brand to compare. |
